'Alternative' yet affordable wedding dresses

silver_butterfly, 23 of January of 2013 at 16:38 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hello all,

I'm currently looking for my wedding dress but I am on a bit of a budget. and as I'm not looking for a traditional white wedding dress, I have a bit of a task at hand!

I have found some dresses I like which are purple and white, but they mostly involve mail order and some are from China, so I am a little reluctant to try. I haven't decided on an exact style yet as I have to actually go and try some dresses on, but I was just wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere I could get myself a beautiful, and colourful, wedding dress.

I'll post a link to one of the dresses on one of the Chinese suppliers which I liked the look of to give an idea:

On a side note has anyone ever bought from the above website? They say they can make the second dress in any colour, so I am tempted by it, but in cadburys purple and white.

Many thanks,

Rxx

I actually bought my human hair extensions from aliexpress! They do all sorts of stuff. Anyhow, the hair is excellent quality so I am happy and it was a lot cheaper than buying it in the UK. I can't vouch for a dress but my money was not released to them until I had the goods in my hands so that might be some reasurrance.

Just an idea... Oxfam have a London shop that sells only wedding dresses... a lot of them are gifts from designers and have never been worn before and they sell them all for about £150 or less (I saw this on a tv program a few months ago!) so you could get an amazing dress for much cheaper than RRp... designers also quite often do funky colours etc? Also if you got one that much of a bargain you could get it professionally dyed to be the right colour.

WhaT is your budget? Wedding boutiques sometimes sell coloured dresses and might have them in the sample sale? Or try second hand dresses from eBay or a specialist second hand wedding dress website.

Hmmm I dunno, no more than £300 really, seems silly to spend a lot on a dress I'll be wearing only once Smiley smile

    Hiya,

I got my favours from that site and the service was great but I couldn't comment on the clothing quality. I have just found this site tho. It's a UK company and they have a show room in London.

    How about this?

    Itis only £89.99 and gorgeous!!!

    Louby xx

I got married in Black and had mine made by yourmomentsbridal.co.uk and it was amazing!

The quality was superb! I could not tell the difference from the dresses I had tried on in shops. xx

I love love love corset and have plenty, just not sure I could wear one for the whole day esp. when there's a 3-course meal and buffet going on! Smiley smile

Lolsssss but surely that's the bonus of a lace up back? A quick nip into the loos with a trusted other, let it out a bit and nobody would ever know :0) xx

I got my wedding dress from Courtesan Boutique www.courtesan-boutique.co.uk

The are based in Sussex but I believe the dresses are made in China. I bought one that was in stock already so only took a couple of days to arrive, and I was really happy with it. They have size charts on the site so I measured myself and fond that I needed a size bigger than I would normally buy which was spot on when it arrived.

They can do pretty much any of their dresses in absolutely loads of colours so definitely worth a look. This was mine:

Oooh but I just found this and HAD to get it - it's very pretty. Not sure I want purple with black and I was set on purple with white, but, I'm sure it'll get some use even if I don't wear it for my wedding!

*This is why I avoid looking at corset sites! Lol.
