Alternative/handmade wedding rings?

milna, 17 March, 2009 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 0 4

I am wondering if I want something a bit 'different'/arty for my wedding ring. I have seen this ring which I think is lovely, but it is far too thick for my little fingers (0.65cm) ...

... though I may be able to see if the designer could make a smaller version? This one is silver and very reasonably priced, its also available in white and yellow gold for quite a bit more (but not an 'out of the question' amount).

I'm also not sure how it would go with my engagement ring (fairly tradiional yet slightly modern diamond solitaire in platinum). I think I'm going to have to either go for white gold or silver for the wedding ring if i want anything remotely 'fancy', or a plain, narrow band if in platinum (due to cost!!). I'm not set on having platinum at all - but if I don't, will wedding ring look funny with Engagement ring?

Any other reccommendations for nice 'unique' jewelry designers?

There is a jewellery designer called Alex monroe who does very natural looking stuff. The ones on the website are just silver or gold plate, but we contacted him and he can do solid gold by request. They also seem quite reasonably priced. The wesite is www.alexmonroe.com

We are getting ours from smooch as you can pretty much design it all yourself from the style of band to the number of diamonds and where they're placed etc. Much better than going to a jewellers and just having 'what they've got'. Ours have worked out quite reasonably priced too.

It's probably worth an appointment (I know H2B appreciated them coming to our house rather than me dragging him around town)

This guy is amazing if you're anywhere near him. Seen him at a couple of wedding fairs and he just has soooo much choice! I was going to get one of his for my wedding ring, but we've had to cut back a bit so didn't.

Those amulet ones are gorgeous - but at the wrong end of the country! ?

I think I'd rather see the rings in person, try on etc instead of buy over tinterweb. We're in the North West.
