Alternatives to bouquets for flowergirls

KateSF, 12 February, 2012 at 15:53 Posted on Planning 0 10

Dear ladies,

We have three big 'proper' bridesmaids who are going to have small round bouquets, but we also have four little flowergirls too.

I'm off to see the florist next weekend, and was wondering if anyone has any alternatives to giving the four little girls a bouquet?

Someone had mentioned flowerwands - two of the little girls will be 12 by the time the wedding comes around in June - is that too old to carry a flowerwand?

Trying to keep costs down, so would rather not have to give them all bouquets, but I feel that they need something to hold as they walk down the aisle.

Help and thoughts greatly appreciated!

    Hi Kate,

For my flower girl i am thinking of having a little flower ball like these that match the flowers in mine and the bridesmaid's bouquets

My sister had a single rose with ribbon tied on and they looked great. a bit more grown up than a wand for a 12yr old. You could get them little bags to hold filled with rose petals

The single floral sprays are popular for both children and adults - similar to this but in your chosen flower:-

Another alternative would be a bridal bag similar to this filled with petals:-

    Hope that helps

I have two 5 year old that will be holding wicker hearts (painted in ivory) with a spray of flowers on one side of the heart (sorry no picks yet as they have not been finished), I also have a 8 year old but she is having a smaller veersion of the adult bridesmaids bouquet. Sorry this probably doesn't help (?)

I considered either a single stem flower or a basket, I consulted with my flowergirls mum as to what she thought might be best and we decided upon the basket, so it'll be a little wicker basket filled with flowers rather than petals, to match me and the grown up bridesmaids.

Another idea is for them to carry a small basket with flowers and ribbons.
