Alternatives to canapes

LC to be, 7 June, 2013 at 12:02 Posted on Planning 0 8

Does anyone have any ideas on alternatives to canapes that are cheap...our hotel is offering canapes on arrival but starting at £6 a head is way over what is left of our budget

Thanks

    Nice crisps.

    Crudites and dips.

    Strawberries, other fresh fruit.

    Some good ideas.

What does your venue offer and do they allow you to bring your own stuff in? We didn't want to pay for canapes but our venue wouldn't allow us to bring any food in apart from favours and the cake.

We didn't bother with canapes in the end.

I would of thought this too,

its a bit like the coorkage fee issue. Why dont you ask them for a price to supply bowls of chrisps, they may be willing to do that at a low cost.

Here is a shot of what the choc covered strawbs can look like

We are having nuts, crisps, bread sticks, cheese twists. That's sort of things placed in bowls around the venue. Caterer would have charged £3 per head but my mum is convinced she can do it cheaper. I'm happy to give her the money and let her try.

My wedding isn't until 4pm as that is the earliest the venue will do them (totally in love with it so willing to make that compromise). Because of that I was worried about fitting everything in and our organiser said a lot if people there have canapés in place of the starter and then go straight onto the main when they sit down. I'm going to opt for this because it means I can invited evening guests for 8 rather than 8.30.
