Alternatives to confetti

rosiep1983, 30 January, 2013 at 15:33 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone - I'm Rosie and this is my first post ?

Just wondered if anyone could recommend an alternative to confetti? Our venue doesn't allow it, but I'm keen to have something. They've recommended bubbles but I wondered if there were any more options?

Would they allow "natural" confetti- real petals?

Alternatively, have you thought about doing sparklers in the evening?

(Not one of our images, from pinterest but gives the idea)

I've also seen bird seed used before, artificial snow and bubbles!

Edit: Balloon release suggestion below is also great, we shot one of those before and it was lovely! I think the couple just had to get permission first because they were close to a flight path. They used helium balloons though in their wedding colours.

You could give everyone a balloon to release? I have seen where people get them personalised and send them out with their invites asking them to be blown up and bought to the venue?

I came to make suggestions, but all the best have already been made!! Did they mean not even biodegradable confetti?

My friend wasn't allowed confetti at her wedding last year so she used white rose petals instead which matched the rest of the flowers at the wedding - they looked lovely. I have heard people mention on here before that bubbles do have the potential to stain your dress

Our venue doesn't allow confetti, not even biodegradable stuff as they have ducks on their pond and they don't want them to eat it. But they do accept natural petals, maybe check if this is ok? If it's outside, it's no different to leaves falling surely? Our venue doesn't allow bubbles inside because it's a slip hazard.
