Alternative/Unusual Venues - Oxfordshire and surrounding areas

PhoenixAngelic, 2 January, 2011 at 02:21 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi there. In the very early stages of planning for a 2012 wedding and looking for an unusual or perhaps alternative venue. We don't want to theme as such but if anything there will be hints at a fusion between our two backgrounds/heritage so there may be an East/West feel (my partner's grandfather was Chinese and he would like to honour that.)

Any ideas would be gratefully received. We are looking at civil ceremony so need somewhere that could do the entire day if poss. Also looking at Sept and for about 70 - 80 people if that helps. We are based in Oxfordshire but would consider neighbouring counties.

However random your idea, please let me know. I don't necessarily need somewhere that has everything in-house as i am happy to bring in my own suppliers.

Look forward to your suggestions!

Phoenix

    Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor? http://www.oakleycourtwindsor.com/

Frank N Furter's Castle in The Rocky Horror Picture Show... random and bizarre enough?

    It's licensed too.

Have you contacted your local registrars for a list of licensed venues?

How strange? As soon as you mentioned a fusion of your cultures, my first thought was also the Matara Centre in Tetbury Glouestershire.

I think you would love it.

Possibly a bit far away, but the Hell Fire Caves in Buckinghamshire can be hired out for private parties, so a reception would be possible here. Don't think you can get married here though. I would have loved having my reception in a cave Smiley laugh
