I got engaged in August 2023, and purposely planned my wedding in June 2026 so I would have enough time to save monies, plan and not stress as much.
My sister got engaged Oct 2025, and wants to get married in 2026. Am I being unreasonable in being annoyed/upset?
In my mind, I'd meticulously planned carrying over annual leave at work, saved enough money, and gave plentiful notification to friends & family of our wedding date. To give international guests enough time to arrange.
Also to allow my fiancé & I time to have enough annual leave to enjoy a 4 weeks honeymoon in our dream destination
Am I being unreasonable in not wanting my sister to get married the same year as me? It'll mean more financial strain what with Hen do, bridesmaids organising etc. But selfishly I just don't want her to get married the same year as me. I don't want family comparing my wedding vs hers, and some not attending mine as they know they'll be seeing family at my sisters.
Side note, my sister will be 35 in 2026.
