and Invitiation Wording:

kittypuss85, 11 February, 2012 at 21:29 Posted on Planning 0 6

We are having a church service - for immediate family only, mums, dads, brothers and sisters - these will have individual invites

Then for EVERYBODY else we will be having a handfasting ceremony, outdoors, followed by medieval reception at the same place (80 odd family and friends)

What do you think of this for invite wording:

no church, no aisle, no chairs…
just two crazy people in a field
vowing to each other a lifetime
of love, fun and random misadventures
please join us as we commit ourselves!
SOMETIME
SOMEDAY
SOMEPLACE
feasting and merriment to folllow

or should we go more medieval and traditional:

Lady/Duchess of NorthSouthShire
&
Sir/Duke of EastWestVille

Hereby request the honour of thy presence
at their wedding ceremony
on Saturday, the twenty-ninth of Septmber,
Two thousand and Twelve

The ceremony shall commence at
Time Date Place

They therefore extend their warmest greetings
to all ye Lords and Ladies with an invitation
to an evening of music and revelry
following immediately thereafter

Or this:

"Made to measure, Wrought to bind, Blessed Be, These lives entwined."

On this day, we will be united with the one we laugh with, live for, dream with, and love.

Lady Katrina and Lord Martin

Request the hounour of thy presence

A date to remember

29th of September

In this wondrous year of two thousand twelve

We joyfully invite you to the celebration of our union.
At 15:00pm, (Venue Address) on Saturday, September 29th, Two Thousand twelve.

Music, Feasting and merriment to follow..

Honest opinions, if they are stupid or rubbish or if anyone can make up or google anything better please feel free to post

I like the first one best. Sorry if this is harsh, but if you're not actually a Lord/Lady then it just sounds silly pretending, and "fake medieval" language is cringey if not done well.

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm going to go against the grain. I'm not keen on the first one for quite random reasons. It's mostly because you declare yourselves crazy, which I'm not keen on. Crazy in love would be better for me. I also don't like the word misadventure. It reminds me of when people accidently die from taking drugs or so on and they call it 'death by misadventure'. Think simply 'adventures' would be much nicer and happier.
