    ***Newsflash***

Go to the website, it has a message on saying 'almost back to normal'.

I have constantly been looking at his website looking to see if he is still trading and this is the first time that this has happened!

Couple that with a couple of you getting DVD's today, maybe that message is true....

    Hi All

We've had a few replies from some of you wanting to pool our resources. Not sure if this still applies now that some of you have received your Wedding DVDs.

    We thought we would:

    1. In the process of finding Stevi's current home address, still ongoing, will keep you informed.
    2. In all of our weddings we must have a collection of guests in various professions/ occupations who could help us i.e. legal, IT, police, publishing etc. It's by using some of these that we've been able to come up with some solutions but we figured if we pooled the resources of all our willing wedding guests, we would have a powerful force.
    3. My IT person suggested buying the domain name closest to 'Angels Films' so we could post information next to his advert warning people to stay away from his company. Further including a link to our forum showing how many of us have been ripped off by him.
    4. Apparently, spamming his site so it collapses is illegal (which would have been a sure way he would not obtain further bookings via the Internet) however, we have made false bookings in an attempt to get Stevi to contact us via a false email account in the hope of luring him out. Other people may wish to do the same. I did think of spending a few minutes each day bombarding him with bookings but this could be seen as harassment.
    5. We are planning on contacting as many wedding venue's within his operating radius informing them he is a con man and recommending they alert the Bride-to-be and look at the links for themselves. Our wedding venue organiser asked for our supplier details when we booked with them assuming others do so also this may help shut him down. If he came to your wedding location (which we of course won't know where it took place) then you may want to do the same for your area. We don't know how far he travels.
    6. We also considered Watch Dog and associated consumer affair programmes, newspapers, magazines, radio etc etc it sounds as if others have already tried this but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have contacts in these areas i.e. publishing, who went to your wedding and would be happy to help?

    Thanks

    xx

    Vivaespana,

I am actually (surprisingly) happy with my dvd. We have only been sent the 10 edited dvds and not the raw footage but I think he has done a good job. He included everything we originally asked for, the only slight moan I have is that we would of liked a tiny bit more footage from the evening, but as far as the quality goes it is all fine.

I still think the guy is a joke and has not got a bloody clue how to run a business but I am over the moon to have my wedding dvd, and I am so glad that it is watchable!!!!

I had a look on his website and spotted the same message, I really hope that this means he is pulling his finger out and is going to stop putting other newlyweds through hell!!!!

I notice that the words "almost back to normal" is all that's featured on the website!

I was telling my hubby about all this and he said that if any of you could get your raw footage on the tapes, he would happily edit them for you (not free of course - sorry a small fee) but the offer is there, same goes for your DVDs - he'd do all could to try to improve them - raw footage is best though and hope some of you succeed in getingt your hands on this (hard job though tbh) - better for you ladies if you could. However, if the film itself is shot poorly then there's not alot that can be done about it! When I say poor, bits of the day missed out, not captured properly, out of focus (not just for effect either), poor sound quality (without specialist technical know how hard to correct), bad colouring can be colour corrected in moderation which is more difficult in a picture that has 25 frames per second than a still photo - not impossible but takes time and patience.

Again, following this thread, I can't believe the shocking nature of this company's conduct and do feel for you all and those that aren't yet aware of what may lie ahead. If he was a member of the IOV (Institute of Videographers), there would have been some redress on this by now - but I understand that his membership was revoked quite recently, possibly due to the fact that he has acted very unprofessionally and this is a breach of the IOV's code of conduct which we all should abide as professional videographers. It's companies like this that can tarnish our reputation - all the same etc and we're not of course, like with everything there are good and bad ones. Did he have insurance to film in public places? His prices certainly don't reflect the true costs of running this type of business! Anyway, I've rambled on enough and I hope you all get your DVDs from this company and that fingers crossed you are happy with them xxx

    AnnoyedWoman81,

Yes, get someone else to do it!!!

I know it is stress you don't need this close to the wedding, but at least you know you will get your DVD. He filmed my wedding in december last year and I only got the dvd yesterday after many emails, letters and finally court action!!!

He does come across as such a nice sincere guy but that soon stoped after my wedding!!!

I really hope you get something sorted!!!

Interesting to see the announcement on the Angels Films website. Please be aware though this is not the first time Glasspell has done something like this. During the 12 months it took us to get a correctly edited version of our DVD, his website went up and down a number of times, and the service, prices and T&Cs changed just as frequently. It’s a pity that you are not able to see the posts he put on his Blogspot last year, as this would have given you some insight into his world. Luckily though, I took screen shots of some of them at the time in case I needed them in a court case so can transcribe them for you:

9th Sept 2009: I don’t have anything interesting to say. All I’m doing at the moment is editing. That’s it. Until the next editing episode. Nanoo nanoo.

14th Sept 2009: Editing. Yes. Editing. Editing is my life. My life is editing. An editor is what I am. Editing.

13th Dec 2009: Not interested. Humanity really is a disgusting thing, you bunch of idiotic oiks. I’m not interested anymore.

So, as you will see, Glasspell, despite bemoaning his lot as a Wedding Videographer (and his love for people in general) at the end of last year, which he told me himself was because he took on too much, he has not learnt from his mistakes and has simply repeated them again. At one of our editing sessions he advised he intended to undertake less bookings to ensure that he didn’t run into a backlog of editing again and that he intended to be able to upload, for on line viewing, draft edits within 24 hours of a wedding. So much for his good intentions.

It is likely that he will eventually get around to providing you all with your DVDs. How long it will take – who knows. Whether they will be acceptable, as I am pleased to hear Mrs Spoons and Nicola Ashby’s are, well – lets just hope so; I wouldn’t wish the nightmare I have had with mine on any of you. What makes me particularly angry is that I gave Glasspell so much benefit of the doubt and made allowances for him, because I too am self employed (not through choice, but through necessity due to illness which means I cannot work outside my home). I gave Glasspell some very sound advice about how to deal with customers in the future to ensure that his lack of communication didn’t cause so much stress for him or his clients. He has quite obviously not taken anything on board. As I have said before in this forum, he is the strangest character I have ever met, and I have dealt with my share of interesting individuals in business over the years!

With regards to the mobile number I posted previously, thanks for the feedback VivaEspana. I have not bothered to call it myself for a long time as got so fed up with it never being answered. This was the number Glasspell used on the 25th February 2010 when he finally agreed to talk to us on the phone. He refused to provide us with a number, so called us at an agreed time. During the conversation, when I asked for his number he said he didn’t know it and advised he only had a small amount of credit left. Of course the number was logged on my phone hence how we have it, but all this made us suspicious that he had in fact gone and purchased a cheep PAYG simply for the purposes of talking to us, though he assured us this was his main phone and that the only other person who had this number was his partner Shelley. So, perhaps we were right and the number has now been recycled and allocated to a new customer. I wonder – those of you who have booked him in the future – has he provided a telephone number or address? How has he communicated with you to confirm your choice of music ect? Please let us know.

For me, the only solution is to get the raw tapes and for that I need his address. For everyone else, keep up your emails with threats of legal action and hopefully you will eventually get your DVDs. He may not respond, but he is getting them and he will undoubtedly be aware of this forum also, so bear that in mind. However you look at it, having to wait in excess of 6 months or even up to a year (as we did) to get your DVDs takes the whole shine off having your wedding videoed. Errors aside, every time I watch my film I get so upset at the enormous battle I had to go through to get it, the stress it caused me and the awful effects this has had on my health and consequently my business. I truly regret the day I came across the Angels Films website and booked Stevi Glasspell.

For anyone reading this who has booked him for a forthcoming wedding, I hope this gives you sufficient warning to reconsider. Glasspell may well be cheap, but you will pay heavily in time, stress and disappointment.

**Newsflash** I have just received an email from Companies House advising that it is now too late to request that Angels Films is not struck off the register as they are already in the process of dissolving the company. As I was not sure entirely what this meant, I did a quick Google and the gist of it is this:

If a limited company has been struck off or dissolved, it is removed from the Register at Companies House. Its cash and assets transfer to The Crown and in order to get them back you need to go through a process known as company restoration. If you trade with a struck off or dissolved company prior to it being restored to the Register at Companies House there can be serious legal repercussions, including personal liability for company debts and a host of contractual and other legal issues. The only way a struck off or dissolved company can release any assets is by way of an application to the Treasury solicitor and the Registrar of Companies within sections 1024 - 1029 Companies Act 2006, for a company restoration, either through court or by means of administrative restoration. A struck off or dissolved company, under section 1000 of Companies Act 2006, forfeits its assets and they pass as "bona vacantia" to The Crown.

So, is it just co-incidence that the Angels Films website has been removed and replaced with just a message today? I think not. Where do we all stand now? … not sure! ☹️ Have emailed Company’s House again and will post any useful advice I receive. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hi there... cant believe what I'm reading. We got married 5Th June 2010. Stevi was our videography. We were attracted by his cheap price for 12 hours of his time and paid the £100 deposit. He was always very hard to get hold off via emial or phone and in between the time we booked him and our wedding date his website changed a number of times as did his address and telephone number. However whenever i did get hold of him he was lovely, charming and very interested in our wedding (or so it seemed) Pre wedding he came to our home for a consultation at his request which would have been a 5 hour round trip for him. He turned up on the day and was there for the full 12 hours and was brilliant. We sat him with our friends and family and fed him the same 3 course meal our guests had for the wedding breakfast (how stupid do we feel now). He offered us a free blue ray copy as a wedding gift, which we were over the moon with. He posted an unedited draft of bits of our wedding on "VIMEO.COM" within a few weeks of the wedding, which we watched and was a great taster of what was to come (so I know there is footage of the wedding some where). It has been 3 months since the wedding and we cant get hold of him. He is not replying to our mails, calls, etc. Iv written to the Hamel Hempstead address too but from reading this I dont hold out for a reply. We have had a family bereavement since the wedding and we have been awaiting the dvd as you can imagine as its the only real footage we have of them. Iv emialed him again today. Im in shock, my husband is gutted and angry. My brother in law is a police Sargent and is going to pursue this for his. My husband is in talks with the two hotels that we used on the day that stevi would have parked on to try and get his car reg number. We have a source that works for dvla who have offered to get the address his car and driving license are registered to. Worth a shot. I really hope that its just that he is half soaked and terrible at communication, but i suspect otherwise. I have a little bit of hope knowing that n ashby has had her dvd which would have been a few weeks before our wedding date. Fingers crossed.. If I find anything out il let you know. good luck everyone x

Hi Liz Heaton. Yes, Glasspell is very good at ingratiating himself with everyone isn’t he? He pulled the wool over our eyes too. Sadly, I too know how you feel with regards to bereavement and wanting the footage for a last moving memory of your lost one. Having a wedding video was one of the last decisions I made for my wedding and it was driven by the knowledge that, as the youngest of all my cousins and the last to get married (I took a while to find the “right one”!), many family members were “tapping on” and my wedding could well be the last celebrations we would have when most of us were present. I therefore wanted to record the day, not just for my wedding memories, but so that we could all have moving images of our loved ones. What is so indescribably sad is that on 2nd June this year, my cousin who was also my Godfather, died suddenly from a brain aneurysm at the age of only 53. We are still in shock over it and I can feel the tears pricking as I write this. If I could only get my hands on our raw footage I know it would contain many more memories of him that I could have put into a montage for us all, and particularly his father, wife and sister, to treasure. It is this, as much as anything now, that drives me to find this man and get my hands on the tapes he promised, in writing, to provide us.

As for his car – great idea. He used to drive a black Smart Fortwo, but the last few times we saw him this year he was driving Shelley’s dark green Vauxhall Corsa. I believe she bought herself a new car in March this year. Hope this helps with the search.

I recieved an email from companies house to say that the company has now been disolved.

liz_heaton, so sorry to hear about another bride in the same boat as us!! I had a similar situation where my aunt sadly and suddenly passed away several weeks ago and I was heartbroken to think thae I wasn't going to get my dvd with probably the last footage of her. My dvd's finally turned up this week (after 8 months!!!) and I was over the moon obviously because we had our dvd but also because my aunt had left a video message for us!! I really hope you do get your dvd!!!!!!

Thanks, I hope so too.. Im holding onto the fact that a few of you got them recently but to be honest im not getting my hopes up. My police sargent brother in law is involved now and the 2 hotels we used are being brilliant with letting us see the cctv footage of car parks, we are going to see them both next week so hopefully that will turn up a lead on an address. Thanks again for your comment. Liz

OK Ladies and Gents – listen up! I have obtained some inside info on our favourite Wedding Videographer:

Glasspell is now of no fixed abode. The “holiday” that was shown on his on line calendar recently was when he visited his father in Australia for 2 weeks in July and this is most likely when Shelley moved out from Hancroft Road and left him. He is now splitting his time between living with his sister Amanda in Manchester, his mother Elspeth in Scotland, and a TENT as he moves around the country doing weddings. He is using mobile broadband.

Glasspell does not have a vehicle. He has purchased two vans recently, both of which broke down beyond repair, one on the 4th August – so I’m guessing this explains why he didn’t turn up to Joanne Taylor’s wedding. He is therefore using HIRE CARS at the moment. (Incidentally, Joanne have you now heard from him and been issued a refund?).

There is, and never was, any point trying to take this man to court. Even before he fell off the map, he would ignore all Court summons and plead “no assets” so you would be throwing good money after bad. I can also confirm that he is in tens of thousands of pounds worth of debt.

Glasspell is genuinely delusional, believing that everything is hunky dory and that there is nothing wrong with the way he runs his business. If nothing else on this forum confirms this, then the message currently displaying on his website that "Things are almost back to normal. Almost" when his company has been disolved, certainly does. So, please understand you are dealing with someone who does not live in the real world and does not play by the same rules as everyone else. He does not feel guilty for the way he treats his customers and will not abide by Court Orders for payment of debts.

According to Facebook, he is very proud of the fact that he has completed 5 videos this week so hopefully there will be good news for some more of you shortly. Sadly though for me and anyone else who needs to obtain their raw tapes, it seems highly unlikely we will ever achieve this.

    Hi All

That 'holiday' to Australia was right after our wedding on July 3rd. He said he'd work on the video inflight and post something (incomplete) for us to take a look at but to remember that this was NOT the final video. I must admit there were a couple of changes I wanted and suggested this to him offering to discuss what was/ was not possible and also followed up with some missing information for the 'credits' etc. NEVER. HEARD. BACK.

We are in the process of claiming from our Wedding Insurer and even though we have (most of) the raw footage, we are missing the speeches. I may appear biased in saying my husbands was truly lovely and made me feel like the luckiest woman alive but more so my mothers speech. My father is not a big part of my life, never has been thus never attend our wedding, although I've always wished differently. So, it was my mother who stood up and gave an amazing heartfelt speech. This unfortunately appears to be the one speech none of our guests (that I know of) had recorded Smiley sad

My husband has tried to calm me down, after reading all your posts, to simply accept that we may never get the rest of the footage. I'm still mad as hell and even considering this makes me madder still. Heaven help the man if I come face to face with him. We are still pursuing various avenues but I cannot get over what a slippery slimy scumbag this man is! That he continuously escapes each of us trying to track him down.

I realise that some of you have nothing to work with at all and I'm terribly sorry to hear this. Especially those of you who have had a bereavement and this is now your last visual living memories to treasure of your dear one/s.

Im still hoping for a miracle.

Does anyone have any good news to report with regards to refunds, DVDs or raw tapes received following Glasspell's remarkable final website announcement in which he managed to big up his ego whilst avoiding any hint of apology to his customers / victims and portraying himself as the hard-done-by good sport? It was sheer brilliance and the final clinching proof of his utter delusional insanity!

I see from searches today that the Angels Films website has now been taken down and, so it seems, the Facebook page entitled "Find Con Man Stevi Glasspell" too ... which is a big pity! This forum remains the only source of testimonial on the little weasel now. I sincerely hope this discussion will remain on Hitched to warn others as I have no doubt that Glasspell will spring up again sometime, somewhere.

The only additional piece of useful information I can share with you all is his mother’s address and phone number, where he is supposedly staying occasionally, as published on www.thebestscottishweddings.co.uk : Please do not post addresses and phone numbers on this forum

Do please post any updates as I’d love to hear them and, of course, I am still trying to get my hands on my raw tapes so any help in that direction would be gratefully received!

Hi there. I have not had any luck or good news either im afraid. All the wedding video footage he had put onto VIMEO.COM has also been deleted. He obviously has no intention of doing our dvd's. Im wondering if we will still be getting the big announcement on the 1st November that he mentioned on the website before it shut down

Sarah, Sorry to hear you’ve joined the “club”. The only confirmed contact details we have for him at present are his mother’s address (Elspeth Glasspell) in Scotland. I did provide this in my earlier post but it got removed by the forum administrators (I presume!), so in order to find it yourself do one of two things:

Either Google the following phrase “Angels Films Scottish Weddings” or go to www.thebestscottishweddings.co.uk and on the home page search the directory by selecting “Central” and then “Videography”. He is staying at this address on and off.

Interesting that he told you in his email that he was going bankrupt. I’ve searched the records at www.insolvency.gov.uk today and so far nothing shows for either Stevi Glasspell or Angels Films. Is anyone else here able to research further and find out if he is indeed going through this process and, if so, is there any way of finding contact details for him?

I found that address and it came with a telephone number i rung it pretending i was intrested in booking them, when i asked for his name the guy said anthony?

its all so confusing? were just trying to go down all avenues. I have an address for him which is in sheffield? this was on one of the recent emails he sent me. the last email he sent was 9th sept.

I found a website with his other address on hemel hampstead and it had said it was dissolved and that the house was sold in may 2009 ?

my close friends booked him too this month, although they only paid the deposit he emailed the night before saying his 2 cameras had broken and his car wouldnt start, i cant help wondering if this is because he knew me and my husband were going to be there and would confront him on the whereabouts of our dvd? luckily they managed to book a local videographer on the morning of their wedding day, as much as im happy for them its going to kill me watching it knowing i havnt got mine.?

i cant fine anything on facebook?

Im so upset ive done nothing but cry this afternoon when i realised, i feel like its tainted my wedding day Smiley sad

I really can't believe this, I'm in shock. We got married on the 14th August 2010. We'd booked a videographer the previous year called Reflections Videography and had paid £350. All of a sudden, this company became impossible to contact, wouldn't answer the phone or emails etc etc. It went on for months and eventually we suspected he wouldn't turn up and that we should cut our losses and book someone else.

This is when we came across Angels Films - a good price, and nothing to pay until after the wedding. It seemed perfect. I emailed Stevi about 3 weeks before the wedding in the hope he would be free. He seemed really lovely and helpful and agreed to film our wedding, no contract, nothing to pay until we were satisfied.

Anyway, he turned up and seemed really nice and stayed all day. He sat for hours at night transferring the raw footage onto a DVD for us and we gave him a cheque for £300 for the filming. We agreed to have it edited and would pay the remaining money when we were happy with it.

Got back from our honeymoon and hadn't heard anything, so emailed a couple of times asking how long the finished version was likely to take, not suspicious at all, just curious. After a couple of attempts and no reply I went on the website to find they'd gone into administration and he was trying to refund everyone, and saying we wouldn't have to pay anything. He asked those who'd not paid to give other people their deposits back so they wouldn't lose out. He then replied to my emails with the following:

    Hi Joanne,
It's been a bit fraught lately. I am sorry for that.
I am still making your DVDs and I haven't cashed your cheque. I will be sending the cheque back to you with your DVDs so you can see that I haven't taken the money.
What I am doing at the moment is making sure that all of my customers whose weddings I have filmed this summer get their DVDs. I also have customers who are due to get married next year who have paid me £100 deposits to book me, so I'm trying to make sure they don't lose their money.
I have 8 customers who booked me for next year and paid £100 deposits, plus one couple who are getting married on the 11th of June 2011 who paid me in full (£595) already to make their wedding video. So, I am asking anyone who has not paid me, like yourself, to please pay these other customers instead, so that they don't lose out on their money that they have paid me.
I also know how weird this sounds, so I'm not asking you to do anything until you have received your DVDs and the cheque back, and then the ball will be in your court regarding paying back the other customers. I wouldn't blame you for keeping the money and accepting the wedding DVDs as a gift. I am going to be advising my other customers to try to claim back their money through their credit card companies as well.
I have just completely run out of money. It has been a difficult couple of years and I only managed to make around £12,000 of sales this year. What really killed it for me is when my car died, and then I bought a van, and that died, and then I bought another van, and that died.... all in the space of three weeks. It was a very expensive three weeks.
Anyway, as I say, I have been struggling to stay afloat for a couple of years so finally going out of business is a bit of a relief that I don't have to keep struggling anymore. All I am doing is to edit the remaining wedding videos I have to finish off, and try to distribute any funds towards the customers who have paid to book me for next year. My other debts are with Natwest and Royal Bank of Scotland, and I am less concerned about them.
I am getting through one wedding video every two days, and making sure that they are good quality. So, bear with me. You should have them in just over a week's time / 10 days or so.
    Thanks Joanne,
    Stevi.
This was now about 3 weeks ago and still nothing, so I have emailed a couple more times. When he didn't reply again, I went on the website to look for a phone number only to find there is no website anymore. It was then that I found this forum.
I'm absolutely gutted. Thankfully he hasn't cashed our cheque (I'm going to cancel it at the bank just to be sure) and we have the raw footage, but I can't believe we probably won't get the edited version. Especially after what happened with our first videographer. How unlucky do you have to be that it happens TWICE??? There are some very sick people in the world, and I'm so sorry for the rest of you who've paid or not received anything at all.
We've been trying to pursue Reflections Videography for months, via trading standards etc, and it's like flogging a dead horse, so I can't see as there's any point in going after Stevi Glasspell either. Sorry for the long post.

Im not really sure if this is good news or bad for most of you but it might give you a glimmer of hope ..... I had 10 dvd's arrive this morning !!! I was so shocked, then i cried, then I thought better watch it before I get my hopes up. My husband and I have watched it and are really pleased. Dont get me wrong if we were dealing with normal circumstances there would be some tweaking and theres a few key bits missing but Im not complaining as I know we are very lucky. I cant answer why he has done ours and not others and as you can imagine we are over the moon but lets hope he is standing by his word and he is producing yours as I speak. Good Luck everyone and thanks for your support xx
