Any advice for my troublesome, very sensitive skin?

1 March, 2016 at 23:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone out there would be able to give me some advice, provide recommendations, etc for my skin.

I have had eczema since I was six weeks old and always suffered with my skin. It is very sensitive and at the moment it seems to be getting worse again. The main problem is my chest and my arms. I keep getting spots on them, and the doctors are just trying to give me oral solutions, nothing to apply to the skin. The last doctor I saw was completely unsympathetic. I am so unhappy about my skin I could cry. I want to get it under control before the wedding.

Does anyone else out there suffer with their skin? There are so many creams I can't use like E45, Aveeno, Eucerin (all the usual ones recommended) and I don't know where to turn or what to do.

I have quite a lot a lot of scarring on my chest too and want to try and reduce the appearance once the skin is under control. I've tried bio oil in the past, but don't think it works Smiley sad has anyone used anything that they have seen results with?

Sorry for the long post and vent, I just don't know where to turn.

Hi MrsQtobe, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with eczema. I used to have it as a kid on the back of my knees and elbows - ooh boy, I used to get in so much trouble for scratching! From what I remember, E45 never worked for me so I think my parents used to lather on the Sudocrem. I also used to bathe in... Milk of Magnesia? I can't remember, I just have visions of a bright pink bottle and it smelling strange.

Could you try Palmer's cocoa butter?

Could it be diet-related? Things you use to wash your clothes irritating your skin? Any shower gel you currently use?

Maybe you could talk to a beauty salon? See if they can recommend any moisturisers that won't make it flare up?

Sorry, a lot of (probably stupid) ideas, but anything's worth a shot?

I et eczema on my face and know what it's like to be at the end of your tether with remedies. Luckily my GP has given me something non-steroidal which works when I have a flare up, which is a huge relief!

Have you tried any of the Forever Aloe Vera products? I've not used them myself but there's alot of huge claims out there about how amazing they are.

I'm sure you've already tried it but I was recently prescribed a moderate steroid cream for another skin condition which has worked wonders on my eczema- the doc said it was OK to use it!! It's Eumovate (clobetasone butyrate) might be worth a try if you haven't tried it already

I really do feel your pain too. I am really sorry for the flare ups, but I can only add what helps me.

    - For the scaring, as bio oil didn't work, have you looked into pregnancy creams that reduce stretch marks, as I believe it's a similar method in how it works and there's a palmers version, as you said that doesn't irritate.

    - Have a clear out of shower gel. I find even some body shop stuff sets it off, Nivea cashmere works and semi hydrates, but every 2/3 days also use an in shower moisturiser as it doesn't feel as heavy. For baths, I found Epsom salts work really well, I tend to itch like crazy in the bath with these, but if you can control yourself, it does calm down the itching after you're out of the bath, and can get them from Amazon. I got camomile soap bar, and that does help, but no idea where it's from, as my mum got it for me.

    - Sudocrem again works for me. Go to the pharmacist and get them to recommend a hydrocortolzone (sp?) cream, if your GP isn't helping, it wont be as strong, but when it's this bad, anything is worth a go right?

    - I remember getting it quite badly down my back, and I ended up googling it, and there's a common chemical in Shampoo that set it off.

You may find something new in the google search, but it never occured to me to be shampoo related.

I really am sorry this has flared up, and do let us know how things progress Smiley smile Good luck!

    Hi MrsQtobe,

You just basically described me inyour post. I'm so sorry for the way you are feeling.

I don't use anything on my skin that isn't prescribed, even the mildest body lotion sets me off even if it's meant for sentetive skin. I find Sorbolene to be by far the best moisturiser.

I don't find topical steroids much use at all, and often end up on short courses of oral steroids to try to calm it. I get 10 day courses of perdnisolone and it works wonders, my skin clears within 3 or 4 days of starting the course and stays clear forva month or so afterwards. That said, I'm not happy with this as a long term solution but if you have an agreeable GP it could get you through the wedding feeling better.

I don't use any soaps or showergels on my skin, i use the same cream i use as a moisturiser as a soap in the shower, and bathe twice a week in a bath with epsom salts and a few drops of ti tree and lavendar essential oils which are very soothing.

I have found clinique redness control and moisture surge ranges the best skin care for my face.

I do find diet makes a difference, a while ago i tried The Eczema Diet by Dr Karen Fischer (available on Amazon). It worked worders for me, the results were brilliant but the diet itself is quite hard work. I found it unsustainable for life in general, but I'd go back to it in a flash to clear my skin for a special occasion.

I read an article last month whereca woman with eczema was advised by a dermatologist to go on the 5:2 diet, and she said it was briliant. I did some reasearch around it and there is a fair amount of evidence to suggest that intermittent fasting is highly beneficial for atopic conditions, so I'm giving that a go now. I'm only a week in now though so i can't really say if it's any good personally.

    Good luck

Have you tried Oilatum at all? They do a different range of products that you can find in Boots/Tesco.. I'm sure you can find them in other stores too. I have dermatitis instead of eczema but it may still be worth a try.

I'm a bit late to the party but wanted to share a tip I've learned.

I have flare ups with my skin that come and go and the best treatment I've found is an oat bath Smiley smile I get normal porridge oats from the supermarket and pop about two handfuls into the end of an old pair of tights. Tie it up, snip off the excess and drop it into your bath.

The water goes cloudy with the oat milk and you can use the oat bag to rub across your skin. It feels lovely and is so cheap and easy to do Smiley smile

Reviews and comments can be helpful most times. Permit me to share that, in the first week of March this year I was convinced to invest in a fake Altcoin cryptocurrency platform through someone I connected with on Telegram x, which I did but unfortunately after investing my money I discovered I could not withdraw or access my account on the fake platform. Lucky for me, I came across a review on funds recovery and I contacted: Hackrecovery AT Yandex Dot Ru, and through their help and support I was able to recover my money. Losing money trading crypto can be frustrating but I am happy today that my funds were recovered and I wish to share with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your pores and skin troubles. It sounds like you are going through an irritating and difficult situation. Have you considered consulting with a dermatologist or looking for an expert who may also have an extra ride with touchy pores and skin prerequisites like eczema? They may be in a position to grant more focused therapy preferences or advocate a choice of skincare merchandise that may be highly acceptable to your needs. Additionally, for scarring, some people have found success with silicone gel sheets or lotions in particular designed to decrease the look of scars. It's crucial to be an affected person and gentle with your skin, in particular, given its sensitivity. I hope you discover a remedy quickly and have an extraordinary wedding day.

Hi, I was a victim of Pink drainer. They stole wbtc from my polygon network. Unfortunately when I discovered it, I couldn't recover my money since I don't have control over the drainer's address. At that Point what I could do was to reach out to a reliable recovery team through their email on HACKRECOVERY AT YANDEX DOT RU, with the assistance of their Crypto recovery experts I was able to trace and recover my funds.
