Any recommendations for ties / bow ties??

Moonbeam88, 17 May, 2016 at 13:05 Posted on Planning 0 5

We are having normal suits purchased from next. Does anyone have any recommendations for ties / bow ties? We are considering ties for all groomsmen apart from the groom who will have a bow tie so need them to be matching / complementary. Also want matching pocket ties. Open to something a little out the ordinary x

Dobell.co.uk do a range of bow ties and ties.

We stumbled across them when looking at suits, but haven't personally used them.

Tiesplanet.com is where we got ours from. They're ok quality and have lots of different colours! Will also probably have a bow tie to match the colour of a normal tie.

We have got our groom and best man ties and pocket squares from Duchamp London. They are expensive, but are lovely quality! We got them in the sale, I think the ties were reduced to £20 from £75!

    Hi

Try Mrs Bow tie! We got ours from there, they have so many options and are terrific quality. Also, the customer service (should you need to use it!) is second to none.

    Hello!

If you're a little bit creative / crafty, you could make them. That's what I'm doing. I bought some fabric that closely matches my bridesmaid dresses, and the fabric cost me £3.99 per metre. I bought 3 metres which was plenty for 4 grown up men plus a mini bow tie for our page boy.

I also chose some jazzy contrasting lining, with some little sail boats on (my OH is a sailor and our reception is in his sailing club) so that was a nice touch.

I actually asked the shop I ordered the bridesmaid dresses from if I oculd buy the exact fabric, and they quoted me £35 per metre... errr no thanks. So I found a similar one elsewhere.

There's loads of tutorials and patterns on line and on YouTube. They're not the easiest thing to make if you're a beginner, but if you've got time then its worth a go!

I had the idea from a friend of mine who made the men's bowties in a really jazzy print (Liberty London print which was the same as her name) and she made matching sashes for her bridesmaid dresses. Everyone was talking about the home made ties at the wedding and what a clever girl she was Smiley smile
