I am hoping to have a party at a venue in Bath upon our return from our wedding abroad as a celebration.

The planning at the moment is not much or far along as we are trying to discuss catering costs before we place the deposit on the venue - hopefully this gets sorted soon so we I am able to move forward with other aspects of planning.

Me! I'm in Clevedon, nothing booked yet but we kinda know all the where (Doubletree Cadbury hotel in congresbury) and when (summer 2017) and have an idea of suppliers to look at when the time comes! I'm nudging to book at their next open day in september!

Which suppliers are you struggling for? It's difficult when people start getting booked up. My hair lady pulled out on me a few months before I got married last September and I was frantic! Luckily enough I found a better one than the original and cheaper. It all happens for a reason and will work out in the end.

Thanks all! Looking to have a marquee reception so caterers are required but for a picnic style reception also any recommendations on TOGS in Somerset?

We used Mark Taylor in Winscombe as our TOG. He was very reasonable & exactly what we wanted. He may not suit everyone's taste though. We just went with a digital image package only.

We wanted nice photos but didn't want to pay a fortune. There are loads of local photographs though. Think I must have got quotes and chatted with ten or more.

Can't help with caterers I'm afraid but we've booked Jodie (JD photography), she did my best friend's wedding at Leigh Court last year and we loved her style. She's on Facebook if you wanted to have a look at her stuff without making an enquiry.

Another Somerset Bride here... God that feels like a weird thing to say about myself! Only got engaged a couple of days ago so nothing booked yet but I'm hoping that we will be able to afford The Batch... My cousin got married there 12 years ago and it's been at the back if my mind ever since

We have booked Belinda McCarthy. She's one of the recommended suppliers for our venue and her photos looks great! We are using our venue's caterers so can't help on that one I'm afraid.

Hi SunnyBlueDiamonds, congratulations! We were in a similar position but we have opted for a sunday - we are having relatively small numbers anyway and their venue hire plus minimum numbers are much less on a Sunday.

That's interesting to know Critters- thanks! I have a feeling my 'small numbers' might get out of hand with the whole 'you can't NOT invite...' conversations I have been having the last few days! I can already see me deciding not to even have a wedding at this rate!!

Hello, im a somerset bride too We are getting married in Taunton and having our reception in our local village hall in East Brent. We are doing most things ourselves to cut costs and are very lucky that we have some very good friends and family that are doing us some favours The only things we are struggling with is a Hog Roast supplier and a vintage bus for hire. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great! Looking for something reasonably priced!!!

Not sure if they'll go as far south as Taunton but we've just booked the cracking hog roast company based in warmley Bristol. Found a few in the Bristol area and one near chipping sodbury but they may be too far north for you. Worth having a look at though!

Anyone any idea where I can hire kilts from in & around Bridgwater? I was struggling for flowers & cake but found some people on Facebook of all places. I fell in love with the batch as soon as I saw it. I'm getting married in October & it's very stressful. Lou.

Have any of you lovely Somerset brides viewed Yarlington Barn in Lympsham?

Their website is lovely and the pictures are amazing... love the idea of a candlelit ceremony... but I can't find any reviews or testimonials online at all other than the ones on their own site... not sure if that's a good or bad thing!

I'd beinterested to know if anyone has any first hand knowledge of it ?

? hmm how odd...cant find reviews anywhere! However they do have a facebook page where couples who have married there have left comments-maybe you can contact them from there and ask them? Might be worth a try ?

Just popping back into this thread to say that Yarlington Barn wasn't an option for us in the end because of the 'small print' about maximum numbers of children under 18... so glad I spotted that before I went to view it!

We are all but set on Batch House- both loved it when we viewed it and the gentleman who showed us round was lovely and we felt he really cared about OUR wedding, and not just his business... going for another look on Monday and I'm planning to pay the deposit then ? So, looks like there are now four Batch Brides amongst us!

He is brilliant on the day in ensuring everything is smooth running and on time. Totally unflappable!

That's fab you are joining the ranks of Batch brides 5 weeks today for us, so excited but also worried at how much left there is to do (and how little money left in savings, eeeeek).

I need a favour! Does anyone know of a good seamstress in the Weston Super Mare/ Bristol Area? I don’t need any major alterations, it’s just too long for me and I need it taking up.

I have found a few but not sure who to go with-obviously as it’s my wedding dress I’m anxious they will do a good job!
