Any tips to get rid of disgusting catarrh taste in mouth/smell in nostrils

Roobarb, 30 August, 2008 at 20:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Sorry for the ? subject matter. I have had a horrid cough for the best part of a month ? and I am hoping it's starting to come to an end, but I've got horrible catarrh which is leaving that horrible taste in my mouth and smell in my nostrils - it's yucky and tainting everything I eat/drink. Any tips to get rid of the smell/taste? Bearing in mind I can't take any medication.

?

God I hate this. Utterly grim.

If you can face it, a saline nasal spray (Sterimar or similar) is pretty good. I find the sensation a bit revolting, but then, so is the catarrh ?

Also steam inhalations with Carvol or Olbas oil. It smarts a bit but [my mum] if it hurts it's doing you good [/my mum] ?

Mr P gets this and describes it as 'catarrh dropping down the back of his throat'. Niiiice ?

He also gets the most terrible breath as well as having that horrible taste.

He uses decongestants and they seem to work. OTC stuff usually. Actually, it's always as I can't remember the last time he was dragged went to the Docs

? for replies, I have olbas oil, I'll give that a go. I usually buy decongestant tabs but they're a no-no as I am upduffed. Well I assume they're a no-no, everything else is!

It is that catarrh dripping down the back of the throat thing. It is gross. I don't know if my breath honks or not, I usually brush my teeth loads or chew gum to try and mask the taste anyway.

Decongestants are definitely a no-no I'm afraid. But definitely try the saline spray. It dislodges it all and washes it down.

Sorry, I had no cause to think about the decongestants and pregnancy as clearly that isn't an issue with Mr P!

Hope the spray/olbas oil works and gets rid of it for you.
