Anybody else getting married/get married on a Wednesday??

Jay-Low, 4 May, 2010 at 13:39 Posted on Planning 0 12

As soon as we started planning, myself and OH knew we wouldn't be getting married at the weekend. There are two main reasons for this - mainly money!! and also because I'm a nurse and work shifts, most of my friends are also nurses so getting a day off during the week for them to attend is much easier.

So we orignally thought a Monday or Friday so that people can tag it on the beginning or end of the weekend. But when we found our venue - the only date we could get was a Wednesday, and we booked it.

I'm suddenly having wobbles!! I'm way off sending invites etc but I'm starting to get worried people won't be able to come or won't turn up due to it being on a Wednesday. This may have been triggered by watching 4 weddings last night!! If anybody didn't see it one of the brides got married during the week and hardly any of her evening guests turned up.

Do I just need to take a chill pill??!! ?

If you give people as much notice as you can, then i wouldnt see it being a problem.

Family should not really have a problem, they will understand your situation.

You might just find a few people dont stay for the evening part until the end.

    I really wouldnt worry

It's a toughie!! I know if I was invited to a wedding this year midweek I probably couldn't go. I don't have any holidays and am already taking un-paid holidays for my honigmoon. Are you sending out early invites or save the dates? They can help - though you'll still get some who take no notice of them ?

My daughter and her H2B are getting wed next year on a Wednesday, it's supposed to be lucky! They wanted a particular venue for the reception and only week days were available so we went for it. If people are special to you they will come and it IS less expensive. I'm sure your day will be special whatever.

I'm getting married on a Monday, I think weekday weddings are being more common.

I think the way to look at it is, some people work shifts, some mon - fri, some weekends, you can't please everyone, so hopefully all the people that are important to you will be able to attend and thats the most important thing.

    Yay! Some other Wednesday brides!

Thank you for calming me down guys. As you might be able to tell I am a bit of a worrier. As you have all said, as long as we give plenty of notice then I'm sure it will be fine - and as long as the people we care about the most can make it we'll be happy. I'm going to order some save the date cards right away!

I'm actually going to a wedding tomorrow! I'm currently a SAHM (WAHM I guess with the jewellery), so can go. However, before children I was a teacher and may not have been able to have time off. Close family should be able to have time off for a wedding, other guests might not be able to . However, if I couldn't attend the day, I would make the effort to attend the evening if it was local and I could.

I will be booking De Rougemont Manor in Brentwood. I love it there, can't wait to finally decide on a date and book it!
