Anyone been on a teletext holiday?

Jords, 23 May, 2008 at 18:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has been on a teletext holiday. We're looking to go away at the end of June and I was really, really, extremely surprised that the prices at thomson have actually gone up moving into the late deals category... so much so, that I'm too disgusted to pay. So teletext has been mooted to me.

But the thing with teletext is that I've found fantastic deals but I don't know if you get all of the experience that you would say booking through thomas cook or thomson. So for example, do you get the transfer from the airport or if you get to your accommodation, do you still have a rep there etc.

I wouldn't bother if it was just H and I going, but as the kids are coming with us, I want to know that there'll be someone there to a) organise us and b) to run to if need be!

Cheers x

You get the same thing with teletext hols as you do with other tour operators AFAIK Teletext don't run the holidays they do the last min hols for other companies so you may well end up going with Thomson anyway.

Haven't booked through teletext myself but mum and dad book most of their holidays through it. Pretty sure they have booked a transfer through the agent when they phone up.

    Brilliant - thanks for that.

Like I said, I'm surprised at Thomson, I've been watching a couple of holidays and in the last week, they've gone up several hundred pounds (for the 4 of us.) I was watching them at the last bank holiday and then went up less than a hundred but like I said, they've gone up several hundred which has really surprised me.

    Thanks again,

I booked my first ever holiday with mr community on teletext. this was before the interweb was as popular as it is now. can't believe i once had a life without it tbh ?

anyhoo we went to corfu and it was fab. i think it was actually through thomas cook it was just a bit cheaper as you ended up phoning a call centre rather than go in the shop

Great stuff - thanks a lot.

I've seen some absolutely cracking deals on there so think we'll do it. Another worrying thing is that the hols are through small businesses but I'm guessing that if something did happen to the tour operator would still honour the holiday?

Sorry to be so thick - it's just I usually go into the travel agents months and months ahead. It's rather exciting leaving it until the last moment (although it's also becoming a bit of an obsession looking at holiday places then straight onto holiday watchdog!)

    Thanks again x
