Mrs Vineweevil, 9 April, 2009 at 13:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

Thinking of poss booking to go in November, first week. I like Lanzarote, but have seen a place in Fuerteventura I like, but I know they are windy isles and not sure if it would be warm enough then? I know it is meant to be warm all year round but the PIL were in Lanzarote in Feb and it was quite cool, def not sunbathing weather......?

Anyone?

We have been in March and October so just out of extreme.

I would focus more on Gran canaria as its the furthest south out of all the islands. More chance of warmer weather. I would perhaps look at the beginning of November if you want to sunbathe.

We have been to the canaries twice a year for the last 7 years and the weather does seem to be getting worse, last Sepember in GC was the first time we saw rain!

I was in Lanzarote at the start of Jan (first week) and although it was warm during the day it was too cold for sun bathing and we couldn't face going in the sea. I really wished I'd packed more jumpers and hooded tops and much thicker pajamas as it was very cold in our apartment at night! That said though, the day time temp in the sun was very pleasant and significantly better weather than the UK at that time so I wasn't complaining!

I did Tenerife in November a couple of years ago and it was fine. Warm enough for lying by the pool and no need to wrap up in the evenings. There were a couple of days when it was a little breezy but nothing too bad. Infact, it was warmer than Lanzarote in September.

We went to Gran Caneria in late Oct a few years back and it was lovely and warm.

We went to Lanzarote last April (which I believe is roughly the same weather as Oct/Nov time) and it was okay. You needed a cardigan from early evening but you could sunbath quite happily in the day.

Can I be nosey and ask where in Furteventura you have seen? I am thinking of there for our family holiday in October.

We went to Maspalomas in Gran Canaria late Nov/early Dec a few years ago.

It was def sunbathing weather most of the time (about 25 degrees), although when the sun went behind the clouds, we were wrapped in towels as it went a bit chilly!? We all came home with a decent tan though!

Very cool in the evenings, I wore a cardi every night and we had a blanket for LO's stroller.

We have also been to Fuerteventura in late April and I would say it was a few degrees warmer than GC in the day but still cool in the evenings.

We were out in Gran Canaria (meloneras) the first week of November last year.

It was sunbathing weather, but cooled very quickly when the clouds appeared. Water was still freezing , kids came out with blue lips.

Evenings were wrap in a jumper/cardi.

I have been to Fuerte last week in October and it was hot in the daytime but cool at night. It seems to get dark very quicklt/early too - to be expected I guess.

I would def go again that time of year but would take warm things for evening and to sleep in as the low rise bungalows they tend to have where I go can be quite cool.

BTW I think the wind is one of the best things about Fuerte - a breeze on a warm day is fantastic - it isn't like it is hurricane speeds!

Gran Canaria was ok last November, i got some sun, but it is hit and miss, but much much warmer than here!

This is suppsoed to be the warmest island. I have been to Tenerife in December, South of the island, again, it was ok, you could sunbathe for a few hours each day.

Lanzarote was very windy when i have been at that time of year, and it is not a warm wind either, so personally i would not go there or fuerte.

La Palma has been glorious in Nov some years and rrrubish in others, it is the coolest island though.

However, the weather is unpredictable everywhere now, so i say, take a chance and go for it.

(GC is my favourite, was last there 5 weeks ago, it was glorious then!)

That time of year will be unpredictable. I was in Tenerife over Christmas and New Year and was sunbathing and in the sea on New Year's Day, it was very hot. Another time I was in Lanzarote in February, it was very blowy. During the day I got very burnt but at night it was freezing.

I went to Gran Canaria in November (although it was about 10 years old - god that makes me feel really old) and it was definitely sun bathing weather - scorching!

Been in November and though cold it was warm enough to sit out in the sun without having to cover up during the day. In the evening had to cover up, but only with the kind of clothes you would be wearing at this time of year in this country.
