I cut my H's hair. Someone in his office commented on how good it looked yesterday.

    I also cut own fringe.

I saw this on "this morning" years ago. They did it to a model and she looked ready to cry but once they had brushed it out it looked really good. Think it only works with certain textures of hair though i.e. wavy.

I would never try it though

I tried this when younger - and shudder at the memory of it!

No way! She ends up looking like Suzi Quatro!

    Not good.

I'm having my hair cut tonight for the first time in 18 weeks!!! This is down to laziness rather than lac of funds but if I couldn't afford, I'd rather save and wait than do it myself.

Surely if you are that cash strapped you could squeeze a cut at either a college as a model for free or with a trainee for cheap? Even a Groupon deal? There are other ways before you reach for the kitchen scissors!

That said I spent £50 on a haircut for the boy to comment "have you been cutting your own hair again?" I have trimmed my own fringe in the past, that's as far as I'll go!

I recently bought a clip in fringe. I look a bit simple in it.

I used to do the feathering at the front of my hair when I was younger.

I have also cut my own fringe, although it still looks better when the hairdresser does it.

    I cut Mr C's hair.

I always cut my own hair. The thought of going to the salon fills me with dread.

It looks awful, though, I would not want this at the end of any haircut, DIY or not!

I have a pixie crop and my hair is naturally wavy; the last few months have been very busy and I hadn't had a chance to get to the salon, so I snipped at some of the stupid curls that were forming at the back of my neck and making me look like Lyle Lovatt. By the time I'd finished with it, I was mourning my lost Lyle Lovatt look and had a hair do with edges so high I looked like it had been done in an institution for the insane in the early seventies, had to wear a head scarf for a week and a half before I could get my hairdresser booked (it is VERY difficult to hide all of the edges of your hairline without looking like something is terribly wrong).

And THEN had the whole rigmarole of everyone in the salon coming to survey the damage "ooooooh GAWD....what MADE you DO this?" and "So, did you actually use SCISSORS...or....."

I will not be doing this again.

    That looks awful.

I cut my own fringe once- the hairdresser was not impressed with me and I got told off.

I used to shave my head myself but it's about 1inch long now and needs specialist assistance to stop it turning to a puff ball

Grade 1 - so stubbly head really - I had it shaved properly for a few weeks but I kept cutting my head so it was safer to go with the clippers than a blade

I cut my own hair. It's not a money saving thing, I just hate other people touching my hair.

There's no way I could cut my own hair. OH keeps trying to get me to cut his hair, he's got longish wavy/curly hair so it wouldn't really matter if it wasn't 100% even but I'm still not brave enough!

I cut my own fringe simply because it grows into my eyes very quickly, and even that goes wrong sometimes - tip: don't raise your eyebrows when trying to cut hair to eyebrow length ?

I also once died my hair red (I'm naturally a very light blonde) and instead of the Nicole Kidman luscious red I was going for, I ended up looking like the top of a traffic light. And then when it faded out it went orangey-pink, like I dipped my head in Tizer. Good times...
