I'm absolutely fuming tonight!
Sorry, but I'm about to blow!
We're an older couple getting married at a National Trust venue later this year. We booked our ceremony with them as soon as we got engaged last spring. I've been asking them since then for details of their canapés and drinks reception package for during the photos following the ceremony.
Today I've received an email saying that they can no longer offer catering at all, but if I want to bring our own drinks, corkage is £9 per bottle! This will be served, I. E. poured into glasses I have to supply, but not handed round or otherwise served, by volunteers!
I am so annoyed, mainly because I used to work there, and that is where we met. I know that the NT needs to make a profit, but we have already paid £1500 just to have the downstairs of the property for one hour before it opens to the public. I'm also annoyed as they are using the volunteers, who, with the best will in the world, are not trained hospitality staff which is part of what you pay for with corkage! Also, we're concerned about the reliability of using just volunteers!
I'm hoping to have a meeting with the wedding coordinator, (who has also announced she is leaving and the post will not be filled, we'll only have a point of contact from now on) early next week to iron this out!
Thanks for reading this far! I'll keep you posted!
