Anyone else totally lost the excitement for their wedding?

Sarah, 30 March, 2021 at 22:16 Posted on Planning 0 9
I was so excited for our wedding which was originally going to be June 2020. Postponed twice now and our new date is 28th June 2021. Feel so stressy and nervous not knowing whether it will actually happen or not and it's only 1 week after "no restrictions" supposedly comes into play. Just keep thinking if that doesn't go to plan then we have just 1 week to change things again! Highly doubt things will be "normal" then.

Basically put all the weight back on that I lost last year and have lost all the excitement of counting down days etc that I once had.
Booked in to give notice again in 2 weeks since that's now expired. Also have my first wedding dress fitting in 4 weeks and worried I won't even fit in it at this point.
I know I won't be alone here so just want to see how everyone else is feeling?

    Hi lovely,
I’m so sad that you feel this way. I’m due to marry in July 2021 (postponed date) and do understand why the glow surrounding wedding planning might be tarnished. That being said I’m here to uplift so here goes:

Dress fitting- whatever size you are a good seamstress with get your fitted and looking amazing for your walk down the aisle! If you do feel that you want to lose any weight gained it’s not too late. I did fast 800 for a few weeks to kick start my weight loss- lost 10lbs in 2 weeks and didn’t even do it properly. A month is more than enough time ( I’m trying my dress on for the 1st time 12th April and am so excited).
Wedding planning- do you have a bridal party? Or close friends? Let them know how you are feeling- problem shared is a problem halved after all. I’m sure they’ll find a way to get you pumped again. Also speak to your fiancé, let him know where you’re at so that he/she can offer support.
Wedding restrictions- totally understand how you feel (we are July 10th so 3 weeks (hopefully) post restrictions. To avoid the stress I’ve booked hotels and semi finalised timings (confirming with venue and vendors in April/May) for the day based on no restrictions but also done one for a 30 person day as I figure we’ll know in a few weeks if step 3 of the roadmap is still on track. Doing this has returned control to me.
Hopefully the above makes you feel slightly better x

I am getting married the day before you! Hope you are able to have a lovely day Smiley smile

We only got engaged at Christmas, so planned our wedding Covid-style for only 30 people anyway, so apart from inviting a couple of extra people once we knew might possibly be in Step 4, we haven't changed anything about our actual wedding. I assume though since you were meant to be getting married last summer that you're having the full works?

The thing to remember is you won't only have one week's notice to change things. If any earlier restriction lifting milestone is delayed, then you will know at that point that Step 4 will be delayed too (i.e. say, the lifting of Step 2 on 12 April or Step 3 on 17 May is delayed, you'll know that Step 4 won't kick in on 21 June as they require 5 weeks between steps). So you should know with at least one month's notice that restrictions won't have been fully lifted by your wedding day and will be able to make a decision on what to do about that then.

Thats a great point to note Daisy.
Happy orange im getting married July 24th. I know what you are feeling about wondering if things will go ahead but really feel for you as you have had to postpone.
I hope that weddings can still go ahead cause regardless we will get married even if we can have 6 people.I would say try and think positive thats what I'm trying to do. Remember the wedding day is about you and your hubby and starting the new journey together. When I think of that I get all excited again.

Hi, I completely understand what you mean! We postponed and are now getting married 26.06.21. We are having to plan for 30 guests and also 60 plus evening. I've been so stressed wondering how to prepare and worried about inviting people, then un-inviting them if they aren't on the 30 guest list! I'm hoping everyone will understand. Good luck with your wedding and as others have said, I'm sure the long awaited day will be magical for you ?X

Thanks all, I'm hoping trying my dress on will start the excitement back up again.

For me I'm totally not bothered about the number of people, we could make 30 work if needed, it's more the fact I don't want to be wearing face masks on our wedding day! I just don't foresee the government removing that restriction but here's hoping!

We invited 50 people to the day time but i'm sure if we needed to uninvite people that they'd understand. I just want to be able to hug my family on the day and not need face masks. I know they might allow you to remove them for photos, but it's normally the candid photos that are the best rather than posed.

When we were originally planning our wedding, we decided on more of a casual/low stress day without the wedding breakfast and speeches. Just wanted to do some canapes and photos and then go straight to the evening do! Who would have thought our low stress wedding would turn to this Smiley xd On the positive side, if it does go to plan 1 week after restrictions ease it'll be one hell of a party!

What are you all doing about invites now? We sent ours out pre-covid and just don't see the point in getting more! Might just resort to a facebook group to keep people updated.

I’d love any tips you could share on organising a wedding so quickly. We also got engaged at Christmas, and are keen to get married quickly. 30 people is fine for us, and I’d like to marry in church, so it’s just a case of sorting the reception. I’ve not been able to do anything yet as we were in the process of relocating to Dorset, but we moved today so I can finally start planning ?.

You share my wedding date! Originally booked for June 12th but moved to July 24th because of restrictions. I've been engaged since 2018 but have only just started feeling excited because of this poxy pandemic. Happy orange, like you I wanted to lose weight but instead put on. Now starting to lose again but I'm confident we will both look beautiful no matter what.
My partner has said he doesn't want the wedding going ahead if there's masks. I keep telling myself that they want to open nightclubs in June. If they go ahead with the plan I cannot see masks being a thing as drunk people in a nightclub would not abide to those rules.
