Anyone got a Brabantia 50 litre touch top bin?

lainie, 11 March, 2009 at 23:16 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

If so, where is the Brabantia logo? ? Our lid broke and we threw it away, totally forgetting the guarantee...now they've asked where the logo is!

Anyone able to have a quick look?

Is that the big bin? If so the logo is on the metal bit at the top of the lid above the flip top bit. ~Does that make sense?

It's on the top in the middle above the fliptop bit.

? Love the picture! I'd been through various bits on Google and couldn't find the logo..none were taken from that angle!

Had a quick search on Amazon ?

Our lid nearly broke. A bag got snagged on the little bit of plastic the lid grabs onto and bent it out of shape! Stupid design to have a bit as fragile as that which can be bent easliy.

Well it came with a 10 year guarantee. I'm guessing it's the lid as the base has no moving parts that could go wrong. I always thought the catch would go, but the spring at the back went so it stopped opening..

Our lid broke after we'd had the bin 5 years. I emailed Brabantia asking where/if I could buy a replacement. They sent me a new one free of charge, no more questions asked!! I was very impressed.

I'd say its def worth the money! Ours looks great and the customer service is fantastic. When I bought mine the magnetic catch was broken, I contacted them and they sent me 2 replacements so now I have a spare. I have the rectangle one similar to the one above.

Brabantia bins are generally excellent and they do have a pretty good guarantee backed up by decent customer service. If you're after a new kitchen bin then that's definitely the way to go in my book.

Definitely an investment. I have coveted one of these bins for ages so it was the first thing that went on our wedding list! I love it! And if it's the touch one not a sensor one it has a lifetime guarantee anyway. My argument to H was that we could potentially have this bin at least 50 years (we're only 24 now) so imagine how much more we'd spend on normal kitchen bins over that time.

The only trouble is, H insists on buying the proper brabantia bin liners because they're much nicer but they're also pretty pricey. Oh well, worth it for the bin!

We really like ours. It's got two compartments for ordinary rubbish and for food waste and it's great.

Our lid broke too but within about 6 months of getting it - I have no idea what OH did to it but the flappy bit completely broke off. I didn't realise they'd replace - might give it a go, though after moving house twice since then I have no idea where the reciept is.

I think they're ok but I can't really see why they're any better than any other big bin tbh. The handle on the plastic inner "bucket" thing drives me up the wall too as the bags get stuck on it when you try to lift them out.

It's probably just so that he can go onto Amazon and read this customer review of the bin liners every time he needs to re-order. ?

....they are a fantastic shade of white & come rolled tightly together & seductively wrapped with a piece of paper with the logo on & some information (in various languages). The wrapper peels off very easily & can be recycled! the liners themselves are exquisite to the touch & line my bin like a femidom in a lady. As I push down gently but firmly on the pedal of my bin I get a tantalising glimpse of the pearlescent whiteness of the liner as the lid rises like an aroused & proud male, It stirs my loins as I write! However not for long does the liner stay virginally white, oh no, things hot up when I come to offload my muck. As I taint her gossamer loveliness with my unwanted filth I feel a surge of guilt but tremble in anticipation of the next meeting & the next until I wrench her; heaving & heavily soiled from the clutches of the metallic tube that restrains her while I defile throughout the week. I quickly tie her round the throat & discard her onto the pavement to be ravaged by the foxes & seagulls, before being taken roughly by the bin-men. Sated I return to the kitchen & peel another from the roll & the fun starts again!

Can I just make it perfectly clear that I did not write that review? ? I'm a little concerned to discover, by looking at the only other review that she has left, that this woman is a psychologist. Physician, heal thyself! ?

Bugger...they want the lid back to send a replacement. Why oh why do I have an obsession with throwing things away the second they break??

Gutted. Don't suppose anyone has a lid and no bin do they and fancy giving up the lid?! Worth a shot!
