Anyone had to claim lost wages, redundancy back through government?

bobbly1, 30 January, 2009 at 17:47 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

If you had to recently, how long did it take for your money to come through?

Company I worked for gone into admin, I have been made redundant and not paid for January, so have filled in a form for lost wages, pay in lieu of notice and redundancy and holiday pay today.

Form says up to 6 weeks but just wondering if anyone has experienced it coming through later or earlier than 6 weeks?

TIA

    Hi

My H had to do this last year, I think it took a bit longer than 6 weeks. It will come through eventually. Do you have a partner that is working? If not or if they earn under a certain amount you should claim for benefits as well as if you dont they can take money off you (I dont know why they do this)

    Thanks for replying.

Yes h is working, but I need to inform tax credits of change in circumstances, apply for jobseekers (so that I can claim mortgage protection insurance) and look for another job!

Monday is going to be a busy day!

Def do apply for the job seekers as its one of the benefits they will get narked at you not applying for.

If you check on www.entitledto.co.uk it will give you an idea of anything else you might be entitled to.

Thanks for your help - this is all alien to me, as I have never been out of work in 25 years.

Still, as the saying goes - "tomorrow is another day..."!!!

Sorry to hear this. I had to go through claiming by redundancy and notice period from the insolvancy service last year (although not wages luckily as they managed to pay us as it went under). For me and the majority of my ex colleagues the process was really swift and I was as impressed as my mood about the whole situation allowed me! I had the first payment (for redundancy) within a fortnight of completing the form, and the second for notice pay within about 10 days or so. I hope it's as quick for you

Oooh, that was quick - fingers crossed they don't take too long with mine. I gave it back to the administrators who are sending it off - I did stress the importance of a speedy "sending off of form" to them!!!

No problem, we went through all this last year 2 months before our wedding (and I dont work due to illness) so it was very stressful.

Im sure it will all go through fine. I would think as there are lots of people in the same position at the moment that it might take longer, but you never know, could be super fast!

Fingers crossed for you, it's such a horrid thing but at least was fairly painless that way. The company went under on 31st October and I had the final payment from the Insolvancy service in early december I think. Not sure if it affects you but it's capped though at three hundred something a week.

Yes, I went through that recently and it's definitely a process that requires clear documentation. To better understand what I was owed, I used the ADP Wage Calculator for Net Pay which gave me a clear estimate of what I should expect. It really helped before submitting my claim. Hope that helps!

Hey, sorry to hear you're going through this. It’s a tough time dealing with redundancy and chasing lost wages. I had a friend who went through something similar and had to claim through the Insolvency Service. It took a bit of patience, but they did eventually get paid what they were owed, including some redundancy pay and unpaid wages.

If you're also managing any properties or dealing with tenancy-related issues during this period, working with a reliable property management company in London can help ease the burden. They can handle the day-to-day stuff while you focus on getting everything sorted.

Hope it all works out for you soon!

I went through something similar last year and found it helpful to first calculate exactly what I was owed. While navigating my claim, I used this handy tool for CA take-home pay which gave me a clear picture of post-tax earnings — really useful for documentation. Hope that helps anyone dealing with redundancy claims. Make sure you gather all supporting paperwork too.
