Anyone have a Beko washing machine?

allymc, 16 April, 2009 at 14:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

We're looking at buying a washing machine to leave our flat when we get tenants in. We have (cheapy) laminate flooring plus a springy floor in our kitchen (old property converted in to flats on the cheap!) and have always had a problem with our washing machine on the spin bit as there's a fair amount of vibration and I really feel for our downstairs neighbour! Our current washing machine has a max spin speed of 1200 but I only ever use it on a max of 900 (next setting down) along with rubber 'coasters' under each foot to try and keep the shaking to a minimum. Anyway, we're looking at buying a machine with a maximum spin speed of 1000 to leave for the tenants and Beko is one of the few manufacturers who do one. The impression I get is that they're pretty cheap and cheerful. Has anyone got one and would you recommend it?

We have one in the flat we currently rent and when we move into our own house, I certainly wouldn't buy one.

However, its perfectly OK, its just that once every few washes it doesn't spin properly and the washes take ageeees. But if I was letting out a flat, its what I would choose.

We have one (I think - we have quite a few beko bits) and have had no problems with it or the tumble dryer I think is beko too in the 2 plus years we have had it. We used to have a beko fridge freezer and only changed it as H wanted a silver amercian one - it worked fine.

I had a Beko machine for 4 years and it was perfectly fine until we moved it and damaged it. I actually have quite a few Beko appliances, Fridge Freezer & TVs and all are doing their job ((touch wood))

I've had two Beko washing machines. Neither lasted longer than 2 months.

They both had the same fault, the concrete block in them broke during the spin cycle. I sent the first one back and had a replacement sent but when it happened the second time, I demanded my money back. The workman that collected the faulty one said he is always being called out for Beko washing machines and his opinion of them was pretty poor.

I now have a Hoover one which is great and only about £30 more expensive.

Many thanks all for the replies. Sounds like a Beko would be okay. To be honest we're only looking for something to get us through the next year or two as we'd then look at selling the flat (when the market picks up a bit).

Flaming Nora I'd happily go for a 'better' brand but so few do low maximum spin speeds these days. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't great.

I'd happily leave the one we have (it's a 5 year old Zanussi) but it'd be sod's law that I'd go out and buy myself an expensive Bosch and then the one we'd left behind would die a couple of weeks later!

G’day, I was trying to find a quiet solution for our flat since the current washing machine’s spin always shakes the floor and annoys our downstairs neighbour. I stumbled upon https://vegashero.nz while reading some forum posts, and at first it seemed unrelated, but the site actually helped me unwind with a few simple games after a frustrating day of testing machines. I tried a couple of their slots just for a laugh, and it surprisingly calmed me down and gave me a little win streak. Honestly, it’s now my go-to when I need a short break from the chaos of household chores and apartment headaches.

    Hello,

I’ve seen a few Beko washers that hold up pretty well for everyday use, especially if they’re maintained regularly. Like any brand, issues can pop up over time with draining, spinning, or seals. I came across some useful washer repair and maintenance information at https://appliancesrepairalbany.com that explains common problems and when a repair is worth considering.

I noticed the door gasket problem because the refrigerator seemed to run more often at night. Then I saw moisture along one edge of the freezer door and felt a slight gap when I ran my hand around the seal. The old gasket had become stiff and slightly warped, especially near the lower corner. I cleaned it, warmed it a little, and tried to reshape it, but it never sealed properly for long. I searched Appliance Parts 4 All and found the Whirlpool refrigerator door gasket in the right color and part number. The part I ordered was WP****T , a Whirlpool refrigerator door gasket for restoring the door seal. I liked that I could avoid buying a universal gasket and get a part made for the appliance. The gasket arrived rolled carefully, and I let it relax before installation. I removed the old gasket slowly, cleaned the channel, and pressed the new one into place section by section. After closing the door, I checked the seal with a sheet of paper and felt better resistance all around. The refrigerator stopped running as often, and the moisture along the edge disappeared. It was a quiet repair, but a useful one.

We've had a Beko washing machine for a few years and it's been surprisingly reliable for the price. They are generally considered a budget brand, but many people find them good value and inexpensive to repair if something does go wrong.

That said, if vibration and noise are your main concerns, I wouldn't focus solely on the maximum spin speed. A well-balanced 1200rpm machine can sometimes be quieter than a poorly balanced 1000rpm model. Proper installation and making sure the machine is level can make a huge difference.

For a rental property, a Beko would probably be a sensible choice as they're affordable, straightforward to use, and usually have decent reliability. Just make sure it's installed on a solid, level surface and keep those anti-vibration pads if they've worked well for you.
