There should be no surprises in a PDR-it should be a positive experience.

Focus on - what went well

    what could be done better

and set 2 goals for the forthcoming year.

they should be SMART (Simple, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timescaled)

identify any training needs the person may have in order to achieve the goals.

    ?

Oh, and buy them a drink or make them a coffee if you can. My staff seemed to like being taken out for a coffee.

    Good luck!

There should be a questionnaire first to ask what your strengths and weaknesses are. Have a look at your weaknesses and see if there's anything you can do to improve upon them. Then with your strengths, see if there should be an area that you wish to move to if that's the case. Seek out your companies business plan and work your aims and objectives around that too.
