anyone know where I can get coloured glass bottles...?

kookik, 19 April, 2012 at 13:54 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi All,

first off apologies for lots of absentism - have been crazy busy last few months and slowly putting things together. However now my uni course has finished and with less than 6 months to go I am cracking on!

ok so here's where I need help!

I want to get lots of old coloured glass bottles for my centre pieces. I have been buying a few off ebay but they only have really antique ones and they come at a price. I've got friends and family on the look out in charity shops and am getting lots of clear glass bottles......but not any coloured.

anyone know where I can get something like this?

Muchos Gracias folks!

k

Are they transparent coloured glass you are wanting?

I saw an easy DIY on spray painting wine bottles to make centrepieces and they looked rather fun!

Have you tried antique fairs?, there are often stalls with many coloured glass bottles for only a couple of pound or so each. Might be worth a look if there are any locally.

I found a tutorial online for painting your own glass bottles when I was trying to find blue ones. I haven't given it a go yet. But the article mentioned that it was best suited to vases, as the water would hide any potential paint strokes.

I had a look at suppliers of the paints they use and there were loads of different colours. I saw another suggestion of just using coloured food dye to dye the water inside of vases.

Sainsbury's had some think pink, green and maybe blue. Can't remember how much, but worth a look if you have one nearby! x

I was looking for colored glass bottles a while ago and ran into the same problem, charity shops were largely full with clear glass. You might want to look into https://bottledevents.com/ they do custom-labeled bottles, but they might be able to assist or lead you in the correct direction for colorful ones. Have you explored local vintage markets or restaurant supply stores? Some stores offer empty glasses in quantity.
