Anyone made their own vintage card suitcase?

2013_Bride_, 4 February, 2013 at 21:36 Posted on Planning 0 12

Did you add material into the inside of the suitcase to cover the old lining? How did you attach it?

How did you make the 'card' sign?

Thanks! Smiley smile

I like my manky old lining in mine, and because everything that moves will be adorned with bunting, I'm hanging bunting across and stapling to the sides.

Kentish I'm glad you have nice lining! The one I'm looking at is not so pretty :-)

Love bunting too. Sounds like we are having similar themes!

I am having one, it was my granny's, so the inside is nice and chocolate brown so it matches my theme. I 'think' I am going to cut out the word cards from card, and peg it on string bunting style across the lid. I also have a birdcage for people to put their wishes for us in, and I am having a thumbprint tree. I will need a big table.

Heres mine, I used Cath Kidston wrapping paper to line it, just used a blob of glue in each corner. The cards are an old vintage game from ebay, just pegged on a bit of lace.

Katie Chops - what was the game you pulled those cards from? Love them!

This is a mock-up of mine, using my own 60s suitcase. The lining isnt that nice but I'm leaving it the way it is. I made felt bunting with appliqued polka dot letters, it took about an hour.

How strange - I just started making one if these...and then saw this thread!

Im doing mine with an old picnic hamper rather than a suitcase...haven't got too far yet but as for the sign I've made it on luggage tags.

Currently drowning in ribbon trying to tie the perfect bow...harder than I first thought!

My suitcase is what I used to put my Barbies in when I was little and the lining is covered in crayon scribbles so I'll definitely be replacing my lining! !

    I finished it...

Still not sure if the bow is good enough but I'm fed up of trying now!

Like Katiechops, I used Cath Kidston wallpaper and found vintage playing cards online:
