Anyone managed to get into a terramundi money pot without smashing it??

10 June, 2008 at 21:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I have a really nice one of these banks and really don't want to smash it...but it's got loads of cash in it and I want it for my holdays.

I've tried using a nail file to file down the coin slot but it's taking forever, my arms ache and all that I've really managed to do is wreck two nail files!!

Anyone have any tips??

We stick a chizel or end of a hammer in the slot and pull. It breaks part of the top off but you can glue it back on after.

We managed to drill a hole in the base, widened it out with sandpaper and files and got one of those rubber stoppers that are usually in piggy banks that fitted so it could be re-used.

They're far too nice (and expensive!) to just smash into pieces and bin

I do mine with a knife but we only have £2 coins in ours so it isn't too bad.

My husband cut into ours using an attachment that you can get for a drill that cuts circular holes. The one we cut was a bit smaller than the size of a babybel. WE just need something to plug the hole up with now!
