Anyone on Femodene???

gemm26, 27 April, 2008 at 18:57 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

After being on Dianette for about 6 years, and me constantly dodging my review appointments the doctor has finally refused to sign my prescription and put me on to Femodene?
I wondered if anyone had any feedback on it, good or bad??
I am really worried as I went on to Dianette all those years ago due to bad skin, with my wedding only a few months away I am now panicing that I will have a pizza face for the big day!

Thanks xx

Gemm, why were you on Dianette for so long? Do you have PCOS?

I ask because I was on Dianette for 8 years for terrible skin and period problems. Then the Doctor took me off it, then over the years I was put on the whole spectrum of pills. Then on it, then off it again.

Now, in my mid 30s, after much hassle, I've seen a PCOS specialist who has put me on Dianette permanently. I've had no problems with it, my weight is fine (actually lost 2 stone on Dianette owing to it sorting out my hormones) and my blood pressure is perfect. My specialist thinks coming off Dianette is potentially a lot more harmful to my health, in terms of the PCOS, than the small risk of staying on it. She has written to my GP to this effect.

I did go on Femodene and I hate to say my skin was bad on it. If you really want to stay on Dianette I would seek another opinion.

I was on it for bad skin, I don't have PCOS, not to my knowledge anyway!! I am just concerned that all hell is gonna break loose for me in, just for the wedding day, I am happy to go on what ever from then on! They took me off as they said that Dianette is more of a short term pill and they don't like to keep people on it for longer than a year if necessary. I have been dodging my appointments for years silly i know but I knew they would change it! They say there is greater chance of stroke with it as its a high dose?
Better get the Clearasil in then!!?
