Anyone used Cordosyl mouthwash before? TMI

bluebella, 15 May, 2009 at 16:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Afternoon all, this is a bit gross, but need help!

i bought some cordosyl for gum problems on monday just gone, as a bit of gum felt a bit tender and this it supposed to help, as the label says! used it monday nite and tuesday morning i had what felt like a ulcer, looked like a pimple and was on the bit on gum on the roof of my mouth before you get to my tonsils....its soooo painful and the lesion seems to be getting bigger everyday. i also have a sore spot just inside bottom lip.

reading the warnings on the bottle, it does say it can cause peeling of the skin in mouth, very rarely cause swelling of mouth and swelling of salivatory glands.

i have made an appointment at docs tomorrow, earltest i could get, but do you think its the Cordosyl that has caused this and is there really anything the doc can do, does it just need to heal?

ps, have'nt touched the stuff since monday!

thank you x

I use this from time to time - I would say get to the dentist rather than the doc though.

I can't help with the new ulcer/lump (really feel for you - sounds awful), but I would lay off the Cordosyl. My dentist and hygenist both hate the stuff and definitely do not recommend it!

I had slightly gum problems/tenderness and was told to use Peroxyl (Colgate), which did the trick! Only just use this short-term if you do (no more than one bottle).

I am not a professional obviously! ? I'm sure someone else will be able to offer better/more specific advice.

    Hope it goes away soon.

I occasionally get mouth ulcers and cordosyl helps ease and heal hem.

Do you often get them? I'd be surprised if the Cordosyl caused them especially as you've only used it once.

I would go to the doctors tomorrow but probably also book a dentist appointment as well. Re: Corsodyl, I don't know if that can cause it but I do use Corsodyl and haven't had any ill effects. My dentist recommended it and I love it, whenever my gums are feeling sensitive or I've got a wisdom tooth coming through I gargle with it and then drop some directly on to the area that hurts and it numbs it a bit.

Poss tmi: Mint Corsodyl is also the first mouthwash I can use without disliking the taste so much that I gag and throw up (I seem to have a sensitive gag reflex or something).
