Anyone wrote to football club for signed letter of congratulations for Grooms wedding present?

clarem1986, 23 February, 2011 at 12:46 Posted on Planning 0 43

I wrote to Chelsea FC by email yesterday but not heard anything yet. I heard that if you write to some clubs and let them know you're getting married, groom is a huge fan etc, they send a letter or card as congratulations, signed by the manager or players.

Not holding out much hope as wedding is only 4 and a half weeks away, so I've probably left it too late!!

I have got him a watch too so I have got him a present but I think he'd be chuffed with this! So fingers crossed!!!!! x

I got a certificate from Liverpool FC last year to give to H2B, they didn't respond to my email but I got the certificate in the post a week later.

My problem now is that I was too organised and half the players signatures on the certificate don't play for the club anymore!!!

    I might try again!

I got one from Man United - its not 'really' signed but Alex Ferguson is my others halves idol so he'll be delighted!

Just need an A4 frame for it now - i got a certificate frame but it wasnt the right size.

Mine came back on 3 weeks I think so fingers crossed!

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this, if it is at all possible. If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me on xxx or by return email.

If you are able to oblige, my address is: xxx

    Kindest Regards, xxx

    I don't know what everyone else did, but I wrote something like;

    "Dear Chelsea FC,

I'm marrying my partner Nathan on 26 March this year and I was wondering if there was any possibility that you would please send me a signed letter/card that I could give to him as a wedding present?

I understand you must get hundreds of these requests but I thought it was worth a try. Nathan is a HUGE fan and has even flown to Denmark this morning to watch the match. It would really make his day!!!

    Our address should this be possible;

    (address)

Many thanks for considering this request!"

No reply yet but keeping fingers and toes crossed! I sent this to their general enquiries email x

This is brilliant! Why didn't I think of doing this. My OH is wearing his team's strip on our cake topper and he even added one of their footballs to our wedding list (which someone has bought - I'm a bit miffed as I wanted all the lovely Nigella Lawson cookware!!)

Just got another reply which may be useful for any Liverpool fans...

Due to increased demand for personalised greetings, we now require all requests to be sent in writing to the following address:

    Amy Ward

    Community Department

    Bridge Chapel Centre

    Heath Road

    Garston

    L19 4XR

Please include a stamped addressed a4 size envelope with sufficient return postage. We recommend that a board-backed envelope is used to prevent any damage during postage.

    ***Liverpool FC certificates*****

Ive been on the LFC website and it says that due to popular demand they don't do this anymore but do a standard copy certificate print, you fill in your self.

You have to request it in writing and send an addressed a4 envelope (pref card backed one to stop damage in post) for them to return in it.

    Address...

    Certificate request

    Community department

    Bridge chapel centre

    Heath road

    Garston

    L19-4xr

October11 - Did you send it to the address on their website? I was hoping someone had sent one to West Ham, my HTB is a huge fan and hi brother received one for his 30th from Liverpool, whom he supports. Did you send it to Donations, West Ham Football Club, Boelyn Ground, green street, upton park, london E13 9AZ - This is the only one i can find but underneath the address is says that they will only help genuine causes and local charities...did you still send yours??

    Thank you! x

HOWEVER!! All the signatures are not real. They are printed.

Makes it much less special I think, am bit dissapointed :-( Dont even think I want to give it to him, looks a bit rubbish really....

I was going to do the same next year for our wedding. As OH is a mad Chelsea fan too. Sad that they printed the signatures on but guess if they get soo many requests for it, its hard to get individual ones done. Especially with all the players in the same place at the same time?

I think ill still try and get one though, will wait until next year as half the players will be different im sure!

The liverpool one was printed... if you think about how many requests they get, its highly unlikely that they would have the time to sign them all!

I have sent a request for something to be sent for my OH.. I have high hopes that something will come of it, it is a small local team, so here's hoping! He'd love it. Will get it framed and he'll display it in his office, no doubt.

I did it over a year ago- and got real signatures- it was before it became popular on the forums so they werent getting as many requests.

sounds like now as its so popular they are only sending out a letter with printed signatures

i got sir alex's signature and wayne rooneys- i had asked for these two. i got a letter with the 2 signatures on, saying congrats etc etc
