April Fools Day - would you?

Weather Girl, 12 January, 2009 at 10:27 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone, just looking for some opinions really.

Does anyone think that 1st April, being April Fools Day, is maybe not such a good date to choose for getting married or do you see this as just another day? Or if anyone has booked their wedding or got married on this date did you find anyone playing stupid jokes or anyone making silly remarks about getting married on April Fools Day?

Thanks x

I just see April fools day as another day, if you want to get married on the 1st April go for it!

Personally it wouldn't bother me getting married on 'Aprils Fools Day'. Anyway aren't the superstitions about Aprils Fools Day only in the morning, up till midday??

There will probably be someone that makes a comment about it, but so what. I doubt anyone would play a really bad trick on someones wedding day - but then again you know your family and friends best.

ps sorry this has come out really small, no idea why.

Edited - oh its come out the right size now that its posted ... whats happening to Hitched???

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. And if anyone plays a prank at your wedding because it is April 1st then they don't deserve to be invited IMO.

I'd go for it, personally it's just another day for me but no doubt some people will play little jokes.

WES - it's just another day, so if it works for you, go for it.

Thanks for the replies so far! It's just one of many dates I'm considering but I guess my problem is I worry too much about what other people think. Something I have to learn to stop lol.

April Fools Day is my birthday as well. So I would go for it, no one has ever played a joke on my birthday so I doubt very much they will make a joke on your wedding day. If people make jokes about the date then leave them to it.

OH's parents got married April 1st and they are celebrating their 42nd anniversary this year! Also his aunt has the same anniversary... I think its fine!

You could even make it work for you and have jokes or tricks as favours?
