You're paying for the dress, right? It should be a privilege to be asked to be BM.. not a chore. And she should be paying for the repairs on the dress, not you. Tell her to grow up.

WSS. I'm a CBM in August, and although I was lucky in that I was asked was style etc I would prefer, if she had asked me to wear a black bin bag, I would have. It's your day and she needs to suck it up and wear what you have chosen, simple as. It is a massive honour to be asked to be a bridesmaid! You're not being mean at all.

Tbh if I didn't like the fit of a dress but the B2B likes the dress I'd ask her politely if she minded me going off and having it slightly altered so I felt comfortable in it but I would pay for any adjustments, etc. My BMs made it really difficult for me too as one wouldn't wear strapless, neither would wear long dresses which is what I wanted.. so I caved and bought them matching dresses but in styles they'd both wear.

Lauren honey, she is going to have to suck it up and accept that she will be wearing that dress. If she wants a different one, she pays for it and she pays you for the repairs on the other dress she said she wanted but then changed her mind. I bet that will keep her quiet.

Lauren, I could write a book on this subject. I lost my MOH forever because of this so I know exactly what you're going through.

Stick to your guns, stand your ground etc.

I feel your pain Flow! I had a similar experience, except the boning started coming out abour half and hour after the ceremony and I ended up with cuts all over me. Was so painful but I wore it the whole time, even though some BM changed out of it for the evening (and into their jeans)! Who knew boning was so damn sharp?!

I don't know where mine is. Gave it to my mum to fix, but it would still look horrid!

I think they are quite nice ?

I may not choose these myself as I hate satin, but I wouldn't look at this and think "OMG, they look hideous!"

Flow you think you looked bad in that well let me tell you!! When my ex MOH was planning on getting married 2 years ago (this never went ahead) she chose some dresses for us. Now the dress was a lovely colour and looked great on the other 3 bridesmaids who ranged from size 6 - 10. However on me who is a size 20 and was more of a 22 at the time I looked like one huge bloodclot!!! Its a lovely fishtail style however it clung to my ginormous backside!! Needless to say I dont have any pictures of me in the dress but this is from the website:

Anyway back to the point of this post - I would never ever have said anything to her about me feeling like a blob in this dress. It was HER big day not mine and I would have been happy for her to put me in anything she wanted and not complained once.

It's a Dessy BM dress, my friend had it for her BMs last year.

I would agree with SarB though, if your BMs are not all tall and slim then this dress may overwhelm them, it did my other 2 friends who were her BMs as although they are slim they are not that tall.

Why do you have to pay to repair it? She broke it. I'd tell her to pay or wear it broken!

Lauren it sounds like you tried to make her look nice, and even offered to buy her another dress!! you are not being mean at all!!

When I was the (only, so no others to share my pain) bridesmaid for my oldest school friend, I was wearing a dress her mother made for me, it covered me from head to foot, had bat sleves, and, as a size 22, I looked hideous!! It also started to come apart at the seams at the chest area by 5pm! my lovely boyfriend had to put his arm in a rather compromising position to hide my underwear whilst we got to the car for me to change into my spare dress (lucky i had one)

Did I care, or say anything, not a chance in hell!!!! all I cared about was that she thought I looked nice, and had a fab day!

(slightly O/T Flow I think you looked quite nice in that dress, and remembering mine, you got of easy hehehe)
