10 days to go and I feel awful

victoriamarie, 11 July, 2011 at 13:29 Posted on Planning 0 14

For the last week I have been feeling really sickly, run down and dizzy. I also feel quite spaced out. The closer the wedding gets, the worse I feel so I am wondering if it is down to stress? Everything is more or less sorted so it's not like I am running round in a panic, but I am quite a shy/nervous person so I am naturally a bit anxious about the big day.

Anyone else feeling or felt like this close to their wedding date?

Are you sure you're not pregnant?!

Otherwise - it's quite normal. Deep breathing and tea would be my recommendation - steer clear of too much caffeine & booze.

Learn to knit to keep yourself busy.

I would bet my bottom dollar it is simply stress, I have 13 days to go and last friday I came down with a cold and a cold sore - nice! and this is from someone who keeps telling everyone how fine I feel that I cant believe I am not stressed. Its all very natural and try not to be phased by it all it will soon pass.

    Definitely not pregnant!!! ?

Clare_lou I have had that "coming down with a cold" feeling but never quite got the cold, just a sore throat for a couple of days. Also got 2 big spots on my chin which happens when I am run down.

I guess I do need to relax, just wish I knew how!

I can't knit but I can do a bit of crochet haha

Take some vitamin c, echinacea and zinc. Make sure that you are getting rest, drinking plenty of water/herbal teas and eating regular, healthy meals!

It will just be stress getting to you!

Oh, and for the spots, go to Body Shop and grab one of these and dab it regularly on the spot

    Hope you feel better soon!

I feel very stressed out with all the wedding stuff that I still need to do and worn out by my 2 year old so nothing new for me but I have started to get a little bit clumsy which although is naturally me, it has gone to the extreme over the past few days - for example, today I have sliced my hand open with a pair of scissors!

Oh dear, sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

Try not to stress too much, I know its easier said than done though.

Maybe you need something to give you a bit of a boost? Have you ever tried Berocca? They make me feel so much better when I am feeling low.

Ok so I am 2 weeks behind you but that is EXACTLY how I was feeling last week - felt like death all the time but didn't feel like I was stressing - everyone told me I was and I would feel much better after the wedding but couldn't do with feeling like that for 1 month so.....I have started taking Kalms (I call them happy pills!!) and I swear to god it is either pyschological or they bl**dy work as I feel 100% better!!! I started taking them last Thursday and I felt a bit better Friday and since Saturday I have felt much happier - before I was really angry one minute and then about the cry the next, and feeling shaky, sick, headache, pains in my neck and ear etc but now (touch wood) nothing!! Give them or something similar a try ?

I've been really good taking all my vitamins for the past few weeks and still am ?

I may give the kalms a go, their sleeping pills work for me so the happy pills may do as well!

Ouch! I stabbed myself under my nail with scissors last night when cutting sellotape (no blood though). This morning I put the honey in the fridge and the flora in the cupboard. OH also found a full cup of coffee sitting in the sink, I have no recollection of doing this!

I'm sooooo glad I read this thread, I have just under four weeks to go and I've come out in a stress rash!! ? which probably wont go away before the wedding, is very painful and looks awful! and I put lemonade on my cereal this morning... It's my 30th birthday tomorrow and although im not really excited about turning 30th I don't think i'm too bothered and yet when i saw all the banners and that at work i was almost in tears - it's mental, im exhausted all the time and all I want is to feel excited but I don't :o(

    Thought I was just weird

I have to confess I laughed out loud when I read this.... sorry! Anyway as I said in my earlier post on the surface I thought I was fine clearly not, but I think we have to remind ourselves that we are only human, I have heard that Rescue Remedy is really good, so I maye get me some of that. The one thing I am terrified about is not being able to sleep the night before, if ever I am excited about anything I just dont sleep the night before, take my hen for example I had to be up at 4.00am, I didnt get to sleep until 1! Can anyone suggest something to help me sleep.

No worries, glad to make someone smile!!

I know it sounds crazy but have you thought about relaxation music, if you go on you tube there is lots of relaxation music and it's almost hypnotic, it always helps me when I'm struggling to sleep. I find rescue remedy night ok, but it's not brilliant and switching off my brain which is what stops me sleeping... might be worth a try anyway :o)

Sounds like you're describing what the early stages of a panic attack feel like to me. I had that horrible run down spaced out feeling in the few days before my Grandad's funeral.

Deep breathing and some relaxationg techniques would probably help you. Slow your breathing right down, try to keep it at a steady even pace. In for three, out for as long as you possibly can. Try also lying with your eyes closed and tense your body. As you breathe in and out slowly relax each part of your body moving upwards from your toes. Think calming thoughts or maybe imagine you're lying on a beach totally relaxed somewhere.

If all else fails and you continue to feel spaced out and dizzy try to concentrate on how fast you're breathing. If its at an elevated rate a brown paper bag covering your mouth and nose, slowly breathing out through your mouth to fill the bag and then, keeping the bag over your mouth and nose, in again through your nose.

Just to add you might think you would notice if you were hyperventilating (breathing too fast) but really you might not realise it because you're focusing more on the feeling weird part. take the time to really concentrate on keeping your breathing slow, deep and even.
