19 years on, we still remember

glider12000, 15 April, 2008 at 14:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

19 years ago today was the day when 96 football fans never returned from a day away to Sheffield.

We still remember them, i hope you`ll take a moment of your time to watch this video.

I cannot believe that it is 19 years ago. I remember exactly what I was doing that day (I live in Sheffield).

19 years <shakes head> Where did those 19 years go?

We were only talking about it at Christmas with Mr P's uncle (Wednesday fan)

    Very sad day ☹️

    Thanks for reminding us Glider

Here's remembering not only the 96, but everyone who else was affected that day.

I'll be making the effort to see my dad today and giving him a hug - I know today is always hard for him.

    19 years, wow.
I can remember watching this live on the BBC and Des Lynam was saying there was something wrong with the fans.

I can remember Forest fans running the length of the pitch with advertising hoardings being carried like stretchers. Terrible scenes.

    I remember the 96 ?

I was 7 years old and my H was 14 and at the game with his dad. He always talks about how horrifying it was to see and be helpless.

    Thinking of the 96 ?

I have first hand experience of a football tragedy and can say how heartfelt I wish that no-one ever has to go through this

I was there and it has had a huge impact on my life - can't believe it has been 19 years but then not a day goes by when I don't think about it.

    Remembering everyone affected ???

2 teenage brothers from our area were lost in the tragedy, it was awful ☹️ I remember their parents saying they had waited for them to get off the bus back home and they didn't and their dad drove up to Sheffield to find them ? every parent's worst nightmare.

    Very poignant video, thanks glider.

I was young when it happened but a family friend was there and saw his friend die. It took him a long long time to get over it (as much as you ever do).

? to the 96. Rest in peace.

I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan and my husband is a Liverpool fan so today has always been an important day for us. My cousin was born yesterday 19 years ago so my family were in hospital in Sheffield today.
Thinking of the 96 especially but all those involved.

Two of Mr Magic cousins, Gary and Stephen Harrison, died that day so remembering Hillsborough is an important part of my life now.

I think it's a day which will never be forgotten.

I don't really remember much about it at the time, I was 9 and I think I was sheltered from it. Mr M on the other hand, remembers it as clear as if it was yesterday.

I am from Sheffield and I remember it vividly even though I was only 10 years old. My Dad was listening to the game on the radio and I remember him rushing from the kitchen to put on the TV.

Even though I was not personally involved I still am not comfortable in big crowds as I always think how easily it could be repeated.

My thoughts are with everybody affected.
