1st Bridezilla Moment..........

HillierB2B, 11 November, 2009 at 19:32 Posted on Planning 0 15

i had a phonecall from the bridal shop today asking if i can pop down to sign a few invoices. all was good when i got there, the lovely assistant looked at our 'record' - everything is running smooth - my dress is currently being made (yay!) the only problem is, i just found out NONE of my bridesmaids have been down to get measured!!!! i'm quite annoyed as i asked them all several MONTHS ago to go down - for all the time it takes! i was told by the lady in the shop the dresses i have chosen will be discontinued at the end of the year so its leaving it very tight for ordering BUT she said she can pull a few strings if the girls get there butts in somepoint this week. i called all 3 and all i got was 'but its not until August - i want to lose weight before i get measured' i lost it. i asked all 3 of them to meet me at the shop - i think they could tell by the sound of my voice i was annoyed - within an hour all 3 turned up together. 15 mins later all were measured. i thanked the shop assistant & walked out. when i got home i had several phonecalls/txts on my phone apologising for their behavour.

am i in the wrong for being upset/annoyed? i cant help but feel slightly bad for walking out on them but i kind of feel bit deflated. maybe i was just overreacting?

i have called all 3 now and all is forgiven - i just still feel a bit annoyed

sorry for the rant ladies ☹️ xx

You were well within your rights to have a Bridezilla moment!! I won't have went nuts as well!! Regardless of when the wedding is they should have done what you asked!! xx

If it meant not being able to get the dresses made in time then you were totally justified in doing that (although I'm glad you were able to chat with them after). Some of bridesmaids (well my sisters) are well on the way to becoming pains in the arses too!

Hope that's the last of your bridezilla moments & that your bridesmaids behave!

    Totally justifiable!!

I would have done the same! Grr if you have been nice enough to ask them to be bm's and (im assuming) paying for the dresses they should be working around you!!

My bm's are dotted around the country so I did what the guys on dont tell the bride do and bought them from coast! (seriously - how much advertising do Debut & Coast get!!))

I think you were right to bring it up with them, I would be annoyed to, only if they knew though, dont go mad...but in there defence were they aware the dresses were being discontinued at christmas? Having never been a bridesmaid, or planned a wedding before I never knew that dresses took so long to make and that the designers discontinued them.

Glad you sorted it out with them though, I know what you feel about being deflated and upset with them, I had a few issues with my maid of honour to start with and felt she really wasnt interested which upset me, but we sorted it out very quickly, so I know how you feel there!!

thank you i was begining to feel i was in the wrong for being annoyed. i'm paying for everything for them dress, shoes, jewellery, hair & make up and i think they all realise now why i was upset. so fingers crossed this will be the one any only bridezilla moment!

oh no i wont go mad its a genuine question moya, i was told in june that the dress was on the discontinued list - when i spoke to the girls i asked if they wouldnt mind going in asap to get measured coz i LOVE these dresses and the style fits/suits all 3. they all seemed really excited and told me they would pop down (its in the centre of town so about a 10-15 min drive for all 3) xx

Totally justified then! Especially since your being so generous!! I am only paying for my bm dresses, they will have to sort all the rest themselves! Im a bride with a budget!

I'm also a bride with a budget so my BM's are purchasing their own dresses, but I will get some Jewellery for them. My sister has even offered to buy my flower girls dresses.

I'm totally with you on this one - I would be super annoyed if it were me. I just don't understand how people can't see the importance in these types of things - if they knew the dresses were being discontinued and they said they would go and get measured then why didn't they???? I really don't understand that behaviour at all!!

Anyways, at least thats it all done now and the dresses can be ordered.

That does sound a bit crap of them, especially if they knew it was being discontinued!

Saying that, I was a bridesmaid for my friend about 5 years ago and it wasn't until I was planning my own wedding I realised what a pants bridesmaid I had been, I honestly didn't realise it at the time though ?

Hows thing with you apart from that, everything going ok?

Completely understandable - but then again what I've noticed from my planning most people-BMs included (and in my case OH also included...) will not understand the urgency of getting these things done way ahead of time.

the important thing is you got it done ! just a shame you had to go through unnecessary stress.
