1st dress fitting - includes piccies I know the rules!

rockclimbingtigger, 30 June, 2009 at 14:25 Posted on Planning 0 22

Hi Ladies,

Went for my first dress fitting last week and have enclosed piccies for your perusal. I still love my dress (which was one worry!). I have put on a little weight since my measurements, so its a little "snug" over the hips, but at least now I know this, it gives me the motivation to stick to weightwatchers for the next few months!

Still trying to decide on veil or no veil, I think I'm leaning towards not, but opinions?

Also I won't be wearing my glasses on the day........I just can't see the mirror without them! But they won't be there on the day!

    Purdy dress. Smiley smile

i'm gonna say NO to veil as your bolero is enough around your shoulders/neckline that a veil would just drown you.

I need to try mine on again but its at my mums... i'll wait a while..

    I think you look lovely!

I think I prefer it without a veil but obviously it's down to your personal choice - how about trying a nice headband on with it next time?

Beautiful dress, looks lovely on you!

I would personally agree with TeeHee and say that the bolero is enough, you probably don't need a veil as well. But obviously it's up to you ?

Thank you for all your kind comments ?

I'm personally leaning towards no veil, as i think it is a little bit too much with the bolero too. But its a church wedding and my FIL2B is the vicar marrying us! So would like to do things quite traditionally i think.

I'll try it on again nearer the time, but I think I may go with my gut reaction of no..........

Hopefully when its been fitted properly and taken up 3 foot (I'm very short), will look even better!

Hiya December1984 ? How's the planning going? I *think* we are getting there now....

Lovely dress - doesn't look snug around the hips at all!!!!!

I say no veil - cos you are wearing the bolero the veil is too much (in my opinion). I think if you didn't have the bolero the veil would be ok. Its a personal choice though

Lovely dress.... why not go for no bolero for the ceremony and have your veil if you want to keep that part of tradition, and then have the bolero for your wedding brekkie and reception when you wouldn't probably be wearing your veil?

I think this is a really good idea you get the best of both, as others have said the veil and borelo together is to much but if you wear the veil to the actual ceremony then when you remove it and wear the bolero it gives you 2 different looks. It is a georgeous dress.

Another vote here for that idea. I actually like it with the veil. But then I am a traditional kind of girl

Darn it, i was gonna say that too! I vote no bolero for ceremony and veil then a quick change and off the veil and on the bolero. x

    Lovely! ?

I would go for no veil, i think the bolero finishes it off nicely!

I would go for the no bolero for the ceremony and then take the veil off and pop the bolero on for the rest of it - 2 outfits, what more could a girl ask for!

Hmm, do you know i'm really not sure. i love a veil, i was desperate to have one (so have got a really short one!) but i love that bolero, it matches your dress really really well, and is mega elegant.

for me, the veil is sitting too high, and hanging too much on your shoulders, which is making that + bolero = fussy. how are you having your hair? cos if you are having your hair tied back, you could always stick a veil in quite low, and just use the blusher layer to put over your head for the 'traditional' look, but when you push it back, it falls down your back rather than onto your shoulders IYSWIM so it doesn't look too fussy against the bolero?

does that make any sense at all?

Awww, you look gorgeous. I haven't read any replies yet, so it may be that you've made up your mind either or, but I think a full-to-the-floor veil would look fab with that dress (but I would take it off for the reception).

You look absolutely stunning and I love your bolero.

I'm personally liking the veil... A really plain one would in my opinion add and not detract from the dress.

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable in a strapless dress in church esp if vicar was OH's Dad...

Can I ask what make it is? I love it!!!

I'm not sure about that particular veil, but I'm another vote for veil and no bolero for the ceremany.

Another vote for veil for ceremony and bolero for the reception - two looks in one! (I'm having a similar idea, collar for the ceremony and strapless the rest of the day!)

I love the dress its gorgeous. I am not a fan of veils really so would say no to it, but agree with bluewater its maybe just the way its been placed.

I do like the bolero - and this is just my personal opinion - but I think it will annoy you during the day - especially if its a warm day

Much better without the veil I think. Just looks a bit much. Mind you - and shout me down. I think it would look better without the bolero! It's just a bit too much lace for me. Lovely dress though. Suits your shape!

    Hi Guys!

Sorry I haven't replied, been working like a mad woman, this heatwave is causing mayhem at work with admissions through the roof! ?

Bridgetvictoria - thankyou! My dress is a Maggie Sottero called Addie. ( I hate the name!) I just really like the cut of her dresses they flatter my shape, and make me look like I have a waist!

Hmmm - loads of thoughts there girls, thank you all so much!

Will let you know what I decided, and update with piccies when fitted properly!

    Em xx
