Hi I have 2 Questions I need help with

First one - do you need to send out invites to say your mum, mother of bride etc

2) when would you recommend getting your first dress alteration ? My dress fits perfect length and all that it's just around the boob area

Thanks

    Hi,

We gave invitations to our Mums so they could keep hold of them, my Mum always keeps birthday cards etc in a big bag to look back on. Even though they know when it is etc and will be going it's nice to give them I think Smiley smile

I've just had my first dress fitting on Thursday there & i'm married in June, only needs taken in a little touch and up a bit at the front, next one is in May. Mine needed taken in at the chest as well. I'd probably guess at around 3-4 months before the wedding to have your first.

I don't know about the second one but with the first question; we sent one out to the mothers etc simply because we thought it would be nice for them to receive one and have one to keep. Its the nostaliga value.

Just like MM3, we sent invites to our parents so that they had a keepsake but there's no set rules really. I get married in June and have my first dress fitting 2 months before the wedding - I didn't want to make it too early because I've (finally) started to lose a bit of weight again and have become a regular at our gym. I thought that if I had my fittings too early then it might not be the best fit on the day.

We sent everyone an invite as it had the songs from our ceremony on it (it was a cd invite).

We gave each set of parents an invitation but this was more so they had one as a keepsake each.

Re, alterations- mine was the same, only needed taking in on the bust. I had it altered at about 6 weeks to go till the wedding and it was ready after 2 weeks. I think they can be done quicker but I had time. I've picked up my dress now but just incase there was something wrong with it I still had time to have more alterations.

You have to give invitations to Mums so they could keep hold of them. And I'm not sure about question 2...

As others have said, it's nice to give parents an invite for a keepsake if nothing else.

Re dress fitting - I had my first proper fitting 2 months before the wedding and the final fitting, which was really just to see if anything else needed to be done, 2 weeks before. It fit perfectly at that point so I took it away with me.

I'm about to go for my first dress alteration fitting with 6 months to go. I have no idea of whether this is usual or not, but the alterations lady didn't seem surprised that I want it now or concerned that she wouldn't have enough time - so I'm guessing it's about right!!

As to the first question, I'm giving them to my mum and dad and also to my OH's dad, for keepsakes if nothing else, but also because they asked for them.
