2010 brides

debs1701, 10 March, 2009 at 18:30 Posted on Planning 0 23

Anyone think the time is dragging by or flying?

I know that when I got engaged last year I was waiting for ages to be able to tell people that I am getting married next year but now that I got that bit over with it seema to be just going really slowly.

I know I should be grateful considering everything that needs to be organised and paid for but I just wish I was at the 6 month stage where I could be thinking about sending out the invites and ordering the FG dress and finalising the payments.

Anyone else feel the same?

    Wanna swap??!

I'm having the odd wish that I went for 2010 rather than trying to fit far too much into 2009!

    Hi debs1701

I do know what you mean, although 2009 does seem to be going fast as we're nearly mid-March already! Personally I find I just have to keep telling myself not to get too excited as realistically our wedding is still over 16 months away, and I am in such a wedding-mode most of the time even now I don't want to get sick of the thought of planning any more by this time next year! ?

I think you'll be surprised about how quickly it will actually come around. At least that's what I'm hoping! How far are you into your planning?

Yeah but can I keep my own plans? ?...h2b was the one who decided on 2010 cos he's not divorced yet ☹️

Stazzle, I have a good bit done...I think ?, florist booked, photographer booked, venue booked, cars booked, my dress, BM dresses, my shoes, my garter, FG headband, thank you cards, place cards, save the dates almost ready to go, guest book, picking up BM shoes on Thursday, harpist booked, DJ booked, booking make up artist tomorrow night....think that's it, I have other things that I'm working on sorting out like wine glass charms...getting some gems from PG hopefully next month to get them underway.

Need to get my hands on h2b's birth cert so that I know I have it handy, I have the marriage notice forms printed out.

    How about you?

Wow...you certainly do have a good bit done! That's much more organised than me. I have the venue sorted, photographer booked, videographer booked and am going to see a florist in a couple of weeks. Am losing weight so will probably look to start dress shopping in September time this year, may sort the bridesmaids a bit earlier though to try and get colour schemes more solid in my mind! My dad is sorting the transport for us as he knows a guy with a pure white London cab that we're just going to use with some ribbon. We're not sending Save the Date cards, so am not looking into stationery till a bit later on this year.

    I am certainly very impressed...I feel a bit like I should get a move on ? ?

Crikey Debs! You have just made me feel really bad. I think you have done more than me and I get married in 4 and a half months! ?

Believe me when I say that the time really does fly. When I joined here, I had nearly 2 years to go and used to be saying I had ages and it has gone by sooooo quickly you wouldn't believe. I never used to believe people when they said that but it really does! It'll be here before you know it.

I think since the turn of the year it's going really really quickly. I have 417 days according to another site lol !!

I have got alot organised, my next mission is stationery which to be honest is driving me bloody nuts......

I am not making my own, so I have been looking online and I have been overwhelmed, I know what I want, which is probably the problem and I can't find it. I had a sample sent to me today by a supplier we met at a wedding fayre and OH loves it, but the more he loves it the more I hate it because it's not what I have imagined or described to supplier !!!! But he is letting me have my own way with most things that I feel a bit mean not liking them grrrrr

Debs, have you been to court for divorce papers yet ?

    Hi all,

I think its gone quite quick so far this year. We get married in April, so a bit of me cant wait until Im under the one year mark but at the sametime it makes it all seem so close, although Im the same with the organising, basically done everything, just need to order flowers and make the invites.

It seems like no time at all though since I had 18months to go so its def gone quick! x

Please dont take this the wrong way Debs but do you think things are going slowly for you because you have organised so much? I was worried I had organised too much but have only done half the things you have. What I have done is made a list of all the things that need booking/making/buying and written a timeline so that I have something to do each month. Tonight I am making a list of all the cheaper things I can buy with my wages each week and planning dates to buy them. We are making our own stationery and I have started it as I dont want to get bored of it and sick of the sight of it. So far between Oct/Nov and now I have made 55 place cards. I have a further 11 to make and once they are done I am ordering the favour boxes, then once they are done, the invite stuff (leaving them last as they are most pricey)

I think this year is flying by, cant believe its March already. I think once we get to the 1 year bit its going to zoom!

Bloody hell woman you are TOO organised!

we have only booked the venue and found a chair cover supplier - random but apparently they get booked quick (chair cover suppliers that is)

I havd tried on LOADS of dresses but hate them all so have given myself a break from trying them.

Think we will start making invites next and booking a photographer and florist,,, the rest can wait until later this year i think!

I have just concentrated on the suppliers that can only do one wedding a day ie photographer/ vidoegrapher/ florist. We are getting married on May Day which I think will be a popular date. Things like favours, bridesmaid accessories, underwear, table decs (other than the flowers) can all be done later in the year. I am not ordering my bridesmaid dresses until June.

There is something to be said about booking early though, you can usually get your first choice photographer, videographer, florist etc and I have secured 2008 prices for some things so have saved some money.

We have booked church, reception, photographer, florist and ordered my dress. I am waiting for a dj to get back to us, and I have made 55 placecards over 4 months. Over the next 6/7 months I plan to continue making stationery at a steady rate but know it will take longer as I prob will have other stuff to do in the summer (garden related)

My dress is due in Sept/Oct and then I will prob buy my shoes just in case they get discontinued.

I am going to buy little things like table number holders, bridesmaid accessories, favours as I go along to spread the cost.

I think the time is going quite fast. Can't believe it's only just over a year to go... and have only booked the church!!! But as we're getting married on a tuesday guess we're not in competition for photographers and the like.

Don't worry, I've only got the church & reception venue booked & we've got 14months or so to go. Need to get the music & photographer booked ASAP, esp since we are going for a Saturday.x

I have booked the venue, and seeing a caterer at Easter, and photographer. I've potentially found a band too. Done no dress shopping (waiting until I have a year to go), and no other plans really! I think I'm going to space it out a bit so that I have stuff to do a little at a time. I'm impressed at how organised everyone on here is though!

I actually think time is flying by for me cos I booked by venue at the beginning of December last year and, at the time, it seemed ages until the big day. Now I can't believe its March and I'm just over a year till I get married!!!!!

On the other side, I think to myself now and again "its over a year till I get married which is still a long time" and I'm desperate to start organising things that I'm too early for!!!! Although I don't want to be stressing out later down the line and if I can get as much done early as I can the better (or at least thats what I think). I am (as my friends say) Miss Organised!!!!!

    I totally agree.

I'm @ the stage now where I can't do anything else but wait for time to pass so I can finalise payments etc.

    ?

I spoke to a clerk at the court and they told me that I could just print them off the website so when I get all the info I need I will be sorting that side of things out and telling h2b to sign at the dotted line and write a cheque for £200 then I will make him an appointment to take them down...if I leave it up to him he will leave it to the last minute and I will be a room with padded walls and a very snug fitting jacket! ?

No offense taken whatsoever sweetie ?

I probably have organised too much but the main reason for that is that I had the money to get so much organised at the time and also because I have eczema which flares up really bad when I'm stressed I wanted to get all that I could out of the way because it can take a few weeks to get it under control again.

Can't remember who mentioned it but I have got myself a diary that I have written everything out that I need to sort out and I have set things out each month for me to do, some things I can't sort just yet like suits and registrar (not only cos h2b's divorce isn't through yet but cos I can't book her until August/September time), the flowergirl dress is another one, although I have seen one I like and just hope the same style is around this time next yr and maybe cheaper.

I calculated everything that I could and if I pay £500 a month I can get everything so far paid off in 7 months time but that will be leaving me short so cut back on that a bit by about £200 and I could have everything paid off by this time next yr, not including the food, that is getting "saved" for.

The only thing I haven't thought about is the honeymoon...haven't decided on where I would like to go yet, h2b says he has no preference as he has been everywhere so gives me a bit more choice ?
