2010 Brides - How are we getting on?

Wicket, 2 December, 2009 at 10:18 Posted on Planning 0 23

Hi all!

How are we getting on with our wedding plans?

I'm on a bit of a lull at the moment as, I think, we've got everything pretty much booked/sorted but in January, I will filling in forms for the marriage schedule and H2B will be getting his suit sorted. I'm still thinking that there's something I've missed out doing.... hmmm.

This year has flown by so quickly - we've only got a month left of saying "We're getting married next year!"..... ?

Not too bad actually, all the major things are sorted (except that we still have to finalise our menu and check that the building work is going ok at the venue....) sonot much to do now til Jan. Although I do have a long list of stuff to do between Jan and March so will prob start stressing about that soon!

Only a month of saying we get married next year? Think that's even scarier than my ticker!! lol

Well, to make you feel better, all we have done is buy the engagement ring Smiley smile Mind you, it hasn't been a month since bf proposed, so we haven't had much time to think yet, but I feel like we ought to be doing more!

    Hey DumbleSpud ?

I would say we're generally getting on fine, I haven't really stressed about anything planning related yet, but the 1 thing I do really want to sort out is the bridesmaids! I don't feel that we can 100% confirm our colours until that's done, and I feel it's a little bit pointless talking to my florist or organising on the day stationery etc until that's done. I have an exact idea of the colours I want, but I don't want to get my heart set on them in case I can't find the right dresses!

    So far we have sorted:

    • Venue
    • Tog
    • Videographer
    • Florist
    • Invitations
    • My dress
    • Honeymoon

My CBM is also trying to sort out my hen weekend at the moment too, but not having fantastic cooperation from everyone apparently!

I know, I actually can't believe how fast 2009 has gone - it is unbelievable! I can't believe it's going to be 2010 in under 30 days...and this will be the last Christmas that I get a 'fiancee' card, can't quite believe I'm going to be someone's wife! ? ?

Im going through a slump too! Hoping to pick myself up out of it this weekend! I feel like I havent done ages and I need to get my arse into gear!!

Meeting the venue again sat avo to discuss the fees and next payments, which seem to have gone up by £500!! Cheeky! And then going to see a florist after that - really need to sort the florist out! And was totally shocked when OH said he wanted to come to the florist with me, didnt expect that!!

I just cant get over how quickly the 2010 tickers are moving!

I’m the same....I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone, it doesn’t seem too long ago when we were getting excited about being able to say we get married “next” year lol

I think we are pretty much sorted with what we can do for the time being....

Church & reception booked Nov 07!

    Horse & carriage – booked late 08

    Toastmaster – booked feb 09

    Photographer – booked feb 09

    Videographer – booked Mar 09

Favours – bought for ladies june 09

    Honeymoon - booked june 09

Invites & stationary (me to make) – designed Oct 09

Save the date magnets – sent Oct 09

    Dress – ordered Nov 09

Bridesmaids dress – chosen but still to order Nov 09

Flowers – florist booked and designs chosen for table centres Nov 09

Rings – chosen – waiting for gold price to drop back down after xmas Nov 09

Favours man – decided (Dad to order from a friend) Nov 09

Booked choir for church Nov 09

Think thats everything we’ve done so far....

    To do:

Book eve entertainment – REALLY struggling

Flowergirls – need to decide on dress style – but not paying for them so down to their gran

Suits for men – H2B & dad to go try on styles Jan

Bridal Jewellery – when dress arrives (March/April)

Make invites to send out March/ April

    Choose meals Etc...Etc .....

    And everything else i’ve missed

So we seem to have fits and starts where we get things all done in one go – Nov was a good month for sorting things out i had a week off to get things done...

We too have pretty much everything booked sorted and deposits paid etc, we just need to order our favours, i need to confirm arrangements for hair and makeup and H2B and the rest of the men from the bridal party will need to go for their kilt fittings in the new year.

My sister has her BM dress fitting on 19th December and i will be having my dress measurements taken at the same time too, but other than that we are concentrating on christmas and the fact that today we have had a £630 bill for a service and MOT on our car!! Smiley sad Smiley sad think we may need to open a mid week bar (for medicinal purposes of course!) x

I'm pretty much sorted at the moment. Just really trying to get the guest list finalised and all of the invitations made for sending out as soon as its 2010!!!!

After that it will be waiting for the replies so that I can do the favours, table plan, place cards and sort out things like the centerpieces when I know how many tables I'll have.

Next year also - cake, kilts then hair and makeup trials.

    its all going well ?

    Not too bad.

Got our appointment to give notice on 21st. Only other thing i want to do this months is buy my shoes as i need them when i go back to shop in jan for my made to measure measurements to be taken.

In Jan i plan to get back into uber organisd mode and sort BM dresses, suits (know what we're having for suits just have to order), start on centre pieces/general decor etc.

Invitations are designed but hopefully final proofs will be put together and sent to us in Jan.

I seem to think were doing fine and then I suddenly think of something else and really panic myself!! I have even had a couple of 'wake up in the middle of the night and think OMG!' moments!!

I had a dream about my dress the other night too and have been wobbling ever since! Think it may be because i have only seen it once!

Tried it on, loved it, bought it, sent it to MOH's house....that was April!!! Maybe just need to try it on again....

found flowergirls dresses (got to c dressmaker in jan)

I feel like we are starting to get somewhere now!

Reception venue booked, church booked (but we dont have to meet with them until the new year), my dress ordered (but stressing bout accessories!), photographer and DJ booked. OH knows what suits he wants to hire for him, ushers etc so that wont be an problem.

Will probably spend ages looking for BM dresses because one of my sisters will no doubt be proper fussy bout her dress! I want my dress to be ready so I can go for a fitting and get some pics on here!

Gotta say Im not looking forward to flowers though - I really have no idea what to get!!

Feels like I have ages yet, but bet it will all come round sooner than i think...!

I can't wait to say we are getting married in September as opposed to next September :-)

So far we have given notice, booked and paid the deposit on the church, got the entertainment sorted and I (that is my dad!) have bought my wedding dress and veil. We are looking at more reception venues this weekend and have had a look at rings. Can't wait to send out invites in the new year.

Emily what date in September do you get married? We've done nothing (except book the venue, dj comes with, Picked the BM's dresses not bought yet and got my Jewellery) and we get married the 26th ☹️ I really need to pull my finger out.

    Lxx

Just out of Curiosity, when should we give notice?? Are we behind in doing this? lol I have no idea what I should be doing at all ☹️

We are getting married on the 25th of september. My venue was really easy to choose as it is the church where my parents were married and I've always dreamed of getting married there. It's a methodist chapel so we still had to give notice with our local registrar which you can do up to a year in advance we did it as soon as we could so it was one less thing to worry about but I think you can do it as little as 3 weeks in advance

We had no idea what to do either. The day after we got engaged we sat in the pub looking at each other wondering how on earth you go about actually getting married it's all very well saying you are going to but in practice it's taken some research and planning! It's only in the last month we have realised we have to pull our fingers out and look for reception venues, dj's, dresses, invites and stuff and that we don't have ages to sort stuff out.

These threads always make me so stressed!

    ok we have:

    venue
    registrar
    florist
    cake
    caterer
    ordered my dress
    my jewellery
    honeymoon

am not working this week so planning to sort out BM dresses and suit for OH. also need to sort out giving notice, booking hair and makeup and arranging a tasting in January. and we have chosen the invites we like, just need to order them...

DESPERATELY panicking about photographer at this point! really annoyed cos we found one we loved and were negotiating on price and he suddenly said he was booked for our date. no warning or anything - wish he had told us we were under time pressure because we fully intended to book him Smiley sad

haven't even started (though we have thought about/discussed):

favours, cars, groomsmen's suits, my shoes, venue furniture and dressing... aaaaaah!

and a friend is sorting out the cake

but not gonna worry too much till next year
