Hi i'm new to hitched but i'm getting married in July 2010 looking at either 23rd or 30th and not sure on venue yet tho.

The wedding planning is going very slow. I'm keen to get the venue booked before xmas but my H2B is kind of dragging his heels a bit. I have contacted a few venues and complied a short list including Rookery Hall, Cottons and The glasshouse all in cheshire. I'm just glad there are so many people here to chat/ discuss things with

I'd try and hurry him to get it booked, especially if its a popular venue. Have you got a date in mind?

Can't believe how many more there are for 2010! Welcome everyone!

Well some more craft items arrived today for the invitations. Going to have a play around with everything next weekend, so will definately post a pic when i have master the "invitation".

Off to The Kent Showground wedding fair on Sunday so that should be good!!

What is everyone else up to?

There are a lot of newbies about lately. I still dont have a wedding twin though ☹️, Although I have a 2 day out almost twin!!

I am being nosey !! How much roughly do you think your invites will cost by making them yourself ? I am not arty at all and have rheumatism in my hands but if it's really economic I will have a go !!

I have got a quote for 50 wedding invites, 50 save the dates, 20 evening cards, 70 rsvp cards all printed with envelopes. 100 place cards, 10 menu cards and a table plan. The style is gorgeous a gold card with gold sparkly square, with a heart in a sparkly pink colour and on top of that a sparkly gold heart the grand total for everything is £370, now if I can do it for way way under that then I will have a go myself !!

Welcome Little Miss Scatterbrain ?

Juicy Melons. I am making the wallet style invites so going to be a little more. I am ordering enough to make 80 invites (both day & evening), I am guessing that for the blank invites, inserts & envelopes it will be about £120. Then about £10 for my ribbon (getting through work from America) and another £8 for my paper roses. Add to that 70 place cards, 70 blank favour boxes, 70 blank cards for OOS and then card for table plan. I hope to do the whole lot for around £200-£250. My h2b is printing the inserts.

I've bought the stuff to make my invitations, I got packs of 50 cards (white hammercard, good quality) with envelopes, in a shop called 'The Works' for £5, or 2 packs for £8, so £8 for 100 cards.

I bought lovely gold hearts on ebay for £3 for 100 (and thats 100 sets which consist of 3 hearts that stack inside each other, so technically 300!) I got 30 yards of white organza ribbon with a gold edging on ebay(which I couldn't find anywhere in our local shops) for about £3.50, double sided sticky tape, craft glue and gold lettering (wedding invitation and evening invitation) from our local crap shop for just under £7.

So all in for enough to make 100 invitation, it cost me £21.50, the only thing still to get is insert paper and Im going to print them, so thats not going to cost much!

I know its hard to imagine how all this stuff will come together to make cards, but I've made little samples of my day and evening invites and (IMHO) they look really nice. They are exactly what I wanted.

I know you are looking for place cards etc also, but just to give you an idea xx

Yeah I've got my dress and shoes! Only got them last month thou. The dress I wanted is getting discontinued in Dec so I decided just to get it.

What about you? Have you had a chance to do any planning yet?

I have done nothing! got engaged on the 2nd of sept then my best friend was getting married on the 3rd oct so i was so busy helping her to organise everything i never even thought about my own! i was planning on getting married sept 2010 but my mum and dad suggested spring for the weather etc and we're quite happy to bring it forward so why wait, just means i'm going to be a busy bee!!

the venues i want are free on that date so its just a case of booking them when i go up the road in two weeks time. your so organised i'm slightly scared! hehehe!

Oh Im really not, it just seems that way!

Its hitched! When I joined in July all we had done was pick a venue and pay the deposit. After I joined on her I just want to do wedding stuff!!!

Im making our invitations, so I've bought all the stuff for that, got my dress, shoes and H2B has picked a tartan (was mainly so I can get on will picking colours for the BM's!!) Thats it really. I know we've got a while to go, but I want to do bits every month sort of thing, so that its not doing everything in the last 6 months and me getting stressed and hacked off with the organising. This way im totally enjoying organising things!

Honestly, you'll quickly become addicted on her and want to get started with things!!x

Oh im totally hooked already! cant stop looking at things and think i have a pretty good idea of the things i want. my OH wants to wear his family tartan so looks like my bridesmaids will be in platnium and black just hope it doesn't look too drab! think once i get the venues booked for definate it will be full steam ahead!

That wont be drab! I've seen pics from a few weddings where they had black bridesmaid dresses and they looked lovely. Platinum and black will look really good together!x

Hello fellow 2010 brides. How are we all today? Anybody doing any planning/booking/buying this weekend?

Well today I booked the florist !!

I am sure about what flowers I want, quite sure about the colours too so the quote seemed pretty good for what we wanted and they only do one wedding a day, so it seemed a shame not to book them !!!!

OOoo I'm seeing my in 2 weeks time! Met her at the wedding fair at Ashford International Hotel. She is only in ashford, and round the corner for me!

Anyone going to the wedding fair at Detling tomorrow?

I think you are the only one for that date at the moment. I have been here for 7 months and still don't share my date either ☹️
