We're looking for a venue atm. not sure where to go. we're thinking of a marquee reception on the grounds of a castle (its actually H2b who wants the castle)

Picked a colour, still looking at venues, and I know who's making my dress and cake...otherwise, nothing as back on placement now so I'm too tired!

The castle grounds idea sounds lovely, I think Marquees can be really great for weddings.

Mummy2hannah yeah i cant wait for this week to be over. Ive been studying radiotherapy, ive luckily got a job waiting for me at derby hospital if i pass (i find out 25th june) so i cant wait to finally start earning some money so i can start putting deposits down on wedding things.

I would love a marque wedding but i want to get married at the church i went to when i was younger in stafford and there arent any suitable marque venues near there :-(

I think the first thing to organise is the venue as the style of the venue will impact on other aspects of your day. Is there any other 2011 brides that are in the midlands/derbyshire?

I don't know. we should probs start a thread to see. i know ooh la la and DWC r in the midlands area

we just did our venue short list. 1 venue in newark, 1 in derby, 2 north lincolnshire and 2 in leicestershire. gona take a while to get round lol.

once i've booked the venue i think i'll chill out quite a bit, i'll be able to picture how things will fit in

Just crashing to say that actually me and ooh la la are 2012 brides and i'm only half a midlands hitcher! i'm technically a north west hitcher!

Hi, we have now pretty much booked our venue. I am on the list on 29th July (as Fi) , but it will now be the 31st July. So pleased it's finally booked!

hey, plans have chopped and changed soo many times already....atm it stands as an informal but massive do. (h2b's dad has 15brothers and sisters and his mums side's quite big too - so it was either small and fancy or big and informal). havn't made our minds up on where the ceremony will be but the reception's going to be at local army barracks! brown and pink are our wedding colours! how are your plans coming along? xx

Hi all, congratulations on being brides to be, i got engaged on wednesday, so very early stages. we are both teachers so we are planning on august 2011, summer holidays. we have a shortlist already of venues, so as we are currently on the summer holidays we are going to go and have a look around. i can't believe how much there is to think about!

Just wondering how far people are with their planning? I feel like I havn't done anything, but think that's because it's so far away!! My damn ticker never seems to go down!! lol....I seem to just be researching rather than actually getting anything done! Anyone else feel like this?! xxx

I am a 2011 bride- 29th January to be precise!

I felt like I was the only one planning a wedding so far in advance and that I didnt really have a right to get that excited so I am thrilled to be able to join a forum with other 2011 brides to talk weddings!!

Sorry, I was kinda feeling abit sorry for myself earlier when I wrote my post....I just feel like I'm going to sitround for 6months, waiting for the one year mark, and then start properly planning! I'm quite tempted to bring it forward to next summer, although there is a sentimental reason we want the 5th Feb....Oh I know what you mean about researching too much that you change your mind lol I've had 3 different ideas for wedding favours this week alone!!! lol
We know where the reception will be....the choice is the ceremony! Either the local Civic Centre,or a nice National Trust place near us....but that's quite expensive, which seems silly to get married there in February, when it'll probably be too cold for people to enjoy the scenery! Oh my head's done in lol...it is probably all very simple, I've just probably done too much researching, I'm confusing myself!

Mummy2hannah, are you in Newcastle as in upon Tyne (rather than under Lyme, lol)? If so then me too! What venues are you thinking of?

I'm beginning to think there is such a thing as too much wedding research! Too many options, although I do love all things wedding. I keep fretting over guest lists and numbers, which is ridiculous as I have two years!

No worries, this wedding lark is very stressful! We have booked our venue. It's the only one which gave me butterflies. Other than that, nothing. I though I'd chosen a colour, teal, but am now leaning towards purple. Decisions decisions!x

Hey Tina! Yeah Newcastle upon Tyne...we're thinking of either just the Civic Centre or Washington Old Hall. Did originally have my heart set on The Marriott up at Gosforth Park, but H2B's family is MASSIVE that it worked out too expensive! The reception will be at TA Fenham Barracks....not the most romantic of places but H2Bs dad works there, so H2B pretty much grew up there...and our pics will be us on a tank! lol...also plain hall, so can decorate how I want!
