2013 Brides - How's the planning going?

Alipops1986, 19 February, 2012 at 18:32 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hello All, I am a little concerned that i'm coming over too organized and getting too many things sorted too soon! So far we have the following sorted: Venue [Deposit done] Church [Date done] Photographer [Deposit done] Suits [including style/colours & deposit done] Invitations [designs in progress, nothing decided entirely] Rings [paid for, just awaiting delivery] I've found a hugely reasonable cake maker, who I am now arranging to meet for a consultation. However, I'm starting to worry that I am getting far too much done with plenty of time to go? Although, we're getting some cracking deals & securing items at 2012 prices. My parents are coming home after emigrating a few years ago, so although I have kept them in the loop and sent photos they've not had much of a hand in anything really, it's been myself and my OH - which I must admit has been super! I'm saving The Dress & bridesmaids dresses to sort, when my mum comes back plus i'm hoping that she'll be able to help us design/make the invitations. Think I might be feeling a tad guilty? Whereabouts are you in the planning/decision making? Alipops x

    Hey!

Loads of people have been telling me I'm thinking about it too much already but I haven't done nearly as much as you!

A lot of people on here sound like they're pretty much completely organised for next summer so I'm beginning to wonder if I should be worrying and become more organised! I have booked the church and our reception is owned by my family anyway so that's fine but so far apart from that I've only made a few enquiries to photographers and caterers =s am I way behind where I should be?!

Deals sound good, especially if that's because you are booking so far in advance? It sounds like a great idea to spread the cost out a bit too. Think I need to get on with it but my family are all 500 miles away and we'll be moving closer late this summer so I'm tempted to leave it more until then so they can be more involved if they want to be.

I'm not really someone who stresses about things too much but then equally don't want it all to be left until the last minute!

Sorry I'm not very helpful but am sure you're at the perfect place in planning as long as you're happy with everything you're doing ?

    xx

Well I have ( and this feels like a major step) booked the church and reception venue!!

So it looks like I'm behind you girls in comparison but I'm still finding my feet on these things.

Also have booked an appointment to go and try some dresses on for fun.

So will see how that goes

    I've not done much...

Booked the venue with catering (having the ceremony and reception at the same place and also staying the night after so thats a lot done in one)

Fallen in love with a dress but going to do some more shopping.

Met a tog today who i think is great but got to run it past OH.

Everything else is in my head - making invites so gonna as start soon as we know the time and full details.

Thats it for me so far...

    Hi everyone,

Getting married in October 2012. So far have booked and paid deposit on the venue (doing everything in one place,) the catering is included in the package- although we haven't actually picked our menu yet. A family friend is a photographer, so he is sorted. That is it!

Feel I've got tons of time, want to get on and do more but am pacing myself...! Got a huge amount of ideas in my head, just not done anything about it yet. Next job will probably be finding a DJ/ Entertainment. Not going dress shopping for a while yet.

When your mum gets back I'm sure she will love helping you out with all the little details. Smiley smile x

    Getting married November 2013.

Not done anything yet but I know exactly what I want so when it comes to booking I can just go "Tick tick tick" Smiley smile

You are not doing too much. It's good to leave time to breathe otherwise you will just get caught up doing everything at once and you don't want to end up resenting your big day.

Im an August 2013 bride and have only been planning since last month. So far we've booked the venue, the ceremony and reception will be in the same place, and I have my first meeting with a tog on Wednesday. Once the tog is booked i think Ill leave off booking things til we reach the 12 months to go mark, I dont want to get everything done too early or risk changing my mind! Though I have tickets to the National Wedding Show on friday and am going to be trying dresses on, again I dont think ill be looking at buying one til much later in the year. Im having fun looking around at stuff though im on the internet 24/7 looking at invites, BM dresses, favurs, everything!

We are getting married May 2013, so far we have:

Venue booked and deposit paid (having ceremony and whole day there)

    Registra booked and deposit paid

    Tog booked, deposit paid

Chair covers and centre pieces booked and depo paid

    Florist booked, depo paid

    Car booked, dep paid

    My dess ordered

My shoes and bridesmaid shoes bought

Save the date cards ready to be sent out.

have chosen the bridesmaid dresses but can't order yet as they are still growing. (at the age where their body is changing shape ;-) )

Hope to book the dj next weekend and look at cakes when we go to a wedding fair.

It's so hard not to get everything booked straight away but planning is part of the fun and I want to try and pace my self but at the same time don't want to loose out on our chosen suppliers. So concentrating now on booking suppliers that will get booked up and other stuff like table decorations, invites etc that I can do I will pace out throughout the year.

Every time i see a 2013 thread i feel very behind!!

We're October 2013 and so far all we have is my dress - didn't intend to buy that so soon but saw it at a wedding fayre at a bargain price so took the plunge...

We think we've chosen our venue but we can't see it again until April (200 miles away from where we live!) and the woman is being a bit rubbish at replying to my emails etc; we've chosen a singer (we think) but obviously can't book that until the venue is definitely booked; can't do registrar until venue confirmed; ceremony and reception, including catering, will all be in one place so all done at same time; not having cars; haven't decided yet whether or not to have a photographer; probably making our own cake; don't want to do bridesmaid dresses until a lot closer....

I'm a bit stuck what to do next at the moment, i want to start buying things bit by bit for centre pieces etc and i want to do some DIY bits to make the wedding really unique to us but i just don't know where to start, i'm not very crafty or arty and everything of that nature i try always comes out looking extremely naff Smiley sad

Because i don't really know what to do next i'm losing steam and second-guessing myself on everything i have done/ decided on Smiley sad
