Colour trend? Isn't the idea to choose colours that mean something to you personally, rather than try to be fashionable?
If something is part of a clear trend, won't it date?

(And since I didn't have any bridesmaids or other attendants I've no axe to grind!!)

There's always trends though, just look at baby's names and you could argue that that's something very personal, and still you see certain names are very popular for a few years.

We're also going for bright colours as ours is in the summer, so will be going for lots of fresh green with pops of red, orange and yellow for our table floral decoration. Bit like a summer meadow. Though for wedding party flowers (ceremony) I'm prob going abit more subtle with apricot/creams/golds. So there's not really a colour scheme as such - we're thinking more of moods we want to evoke through colours. Not sure if any of that made any sense, lol.

We're having our wedding in Rhodes, Greece, so my colour scheme came easy. My girls are in Royal blue so it goes with everything in our two venues. Including the sea!!!

Yes trends only become 'trends' once several people behave in a similar fashion. The question isn't about what trends you are following, but more about what trends 2013 brides are setting. We'd love to hear how each of you are styling your weddings and what colours seem to making waves in 2013. Thanks for the posts so far ladies - keep it coming!

My bridesmaids are in a variety of colours all in one dress (background is cream, flowers etc on dress are navy, royal blue, pink, red, yellow, mangoish, pistacio). each bridesmaid will have a sash and shrug to match (one in yellow, one pink, one red, one royal blue) and the flowers will tone with their individual dresses.

little ones are in cream, with a cream card with a silver glittery brooch as a fasterner, their flowers will be a mix of all with a silver ribbon (they're having a pomander bouquet)with silver glittery shoes.

describing it sounds a right ole mishmash eh

Nobody here sets a trend, whether it's bridesmaid colours or baby names. There are clear patterns, well-defined by psychologists, of how trends map along social and economic lines. You may think you're making personal decisions, but you're not. Someone, somewhere, maybe two years previously, maybe twenty years previously, has made it so.

There's not much to commend 'The Devil Wears Prada', but the assessment of how plastic and mouldable we all are is spot on.

So I agree with AC. Follow your own 'trend'. Even if it isn't a trend. And even if it is subliminally implanted in your brain by the forces that be.

Peaseblossom- I'm pretty flexible really but after a more natural green like sage or forest rather than emerald if that makes sense. I'm after a 12 and a 20 which is also presenting a bit of a challenge as I have been looking high street.

Dark purple and silver. Picked just because my purple is my favorite colour and no other reason.

This is a fun thread - I haven't gone for a colour scheme. My flowers are blossom and roses in peach, pink etc. My bridesmaids are in all different colours and dresses (which I am SURE is a trend these days), violet, soft pink, white, gold and soft grey. I am getting married in Spring so I wanted it to look a bit soft and gentle (not like the deoderant...)

To summarise, 'follow' your own trend, even though we are all incapable of starting/following our own trend.

PS Thank you for keeping this thread fun and maintaining the light tone in which I'm sure the OP intended it.

PPS I loved Devil Wears Prada. Meryl Streep can set trends. FACT.

I only had a maid of honour and he wore a dress she had bought a few years ago. Light pink and white I think (can almost remember it!)

Hi Ladies, thanks to those of you who are posting in good spirit. The thread was merely a talking point to see what you fabulous ladies are doing on your big day. I know that David's Bridal in the US saw an increase of brides going all shades of green upwards of 70% by the end of 2012; it seems the popular colour has jumped the 'pond' and is (dare I say) trendy over here too? ? Jewel tone shades of deep purples and blues also seem hot right now. Keep it coming ladies - we love to hear what you are doing. =)

Is it the brides setting the trends or the dress designers/magazines influencing their decisions?

Isn't it like wedding fashion just like the catwalks. The big designers come up with loads of new ideas (mind you nothing is totally new is it) then those wacky ideas follow down the chain and dilute until they reach the ordinary joes like us?

I must say though different shades of purples and sage / pistachio greens have been very popular with clients I have made stationery for over the last few years.

I have seen weddings when there is not a particular colour theme but a miss-mash of serveral colours but all of the same saturation, eg: Like lemons, pinks, lilacs, pale blues, ivorys, peaches, rose pinks. When i saw Tom Fletchers wedding speech (McFly) the flowers on the table were all thise colours and they looked really pretty.

Mine are in Emerald Green- I've always loved green (fav colour) and always worn this shade to most fancy events. Wasn't looking for green but they looked wonderful. I normally go against anything trendy but am personally pleased it's 'colour of the year' as there's so much more in this colour now to compared to when I started looking.
