2013 Wedding...

Hellooo!

We are getting married in April 2013, and have booked venue, registrar and photographer. I have lots of ideas about everything else too, jut nothing confirmed. It is up to you really, you can start booking stuff now (the big things, venue, registrar/church, transport if needed, photographer, florist etc), or you can wait a few months...the advantage of starting now is the excitement of planning will last you two years ?

Hi and welcome to hitched. I don't think it is ever to early to start planning or at least starting to get ideas and researching.

What colour theme have you decided on? Have you got anything booked yet?- Iguess the first step would be a venue (after deciding whether you are having a church or civil service).

Thanyou Our colours are a light pink and cream. I've seen a venue that i like the look of so going to book a viewing. We are having a civil ceremony so having that and the reception all in one place. I'm so excited about planning but i'm rubbish at being organised so have a challenge ahead!

We wrote a list of everyone we were looking to invite for day and night and i must say my list is a little pathetic compared to my other halfs!

I don't think it is too early to plan, especially a venue as things can get booked up early especially if its a popular venue.

Once you have set a date you can get busy finding inspiration, you could look at some of the suppliers that get booked early like photographers and you could look at making/buying save the date cards if you want to send them

Hi. im a july 2013 bride. all i have booked is my venue. since we have been going through buyng our first flat iv kinda put everythin on hold and just been making a wedding folder with all my ideas. we go on holiday soon too so think after that il get my finger out as then we'l be in the 1 year 11 months countdown lol sounds a bit better than 2 years x

6th july 2013 date. Feels soooo far away but would like to have a second baby before we get married. Only want two kids so like idea that we would be a full family when I finally get same name as my H2B and the kids (fingers crossed can have a second one!).

Worried am wedding obsessed, spend so much time looking online and mags and this forum for ideas. Think H2B will get fed up and call off at this rate!

Booked church and having reception in parents garden so got some marquee meetings at end of month.

Yep!!! certainly is. My mum has caught the bug too. She rang me earlier to tell me she had got a wedding flowers price list for the local florist, that she knows someone who does sugarcraft work for the cake and that she is gonna find someone with a horse and cart! hilarious. It being in their garden is of course a big ask but got there the other day and the amount of garden work they had already done was AMAZING! I am super lucky that she is sooooo enthusiatic and excited

I was originally getting hitched this year, but then went and got up-duffed. Changed to next year, but made more sense to make it 2013. Hopefully won't have to change our plans again.

We haven't officially got anything booked yet, as we only decided on a date a few days ago. But I have some stuff from our earlier plans. Got my dress and shoes ?

We really should crack on and get something officially booked.

Were getting married Aug 2013, glad to see so many other 2013 brides!! We have booked all the 'bigger' things, venue, registra, entertainment, and cake - mainly because I panic about missing the ones we wont as its a busy time of year!

I'm also a tad obsessed with talking about the wedding, glad I can come on here as my family are getting bored!! ?

we're getting married 1st of june 2013, i'm looking at venues now, not got anything booked yet

We are getting married March 2013 and We have already booked the church and the venue.

I have decided on the colour theme and my Dad has made save the date cards and started designing the invites.

I have also looked at wedding dresses, talked to the florist I want to use and the photographer.

You could say I like to be organised or that I'm just mad!

I think if you want your day to be perfect the more time you spend planning the happier you will be with how your day turns out.

Im may 2013! its sooooooooooooooo far away but im sure it will come round quick, ive booked church venue photography( got a really cheap deal) thought i was being a little hasty but who cares im excited xx

Im SO glad that theres alot of brides to be for 2013, i was beginning to think i was the only one! I am planning our wedding now (its going to be in June). We have found a venue which we will pay a deposit for in August after our holiday. 2 years seems so long away though ☹️

Wow so many 2013 brides! We are getting married in spring 2013 - current thinking is April.

We have quite an unusual approach though - have started viewing venues and researching other stuff now, but going to book a late availability deal in early 2013 as all the types of venues I love are ridiculously expensive and we are not tied to any particular date.

So the plan is, to plan now and book later! I agree with everyone else - the more time you give yourself the better. I'm so looking forward to it ? x

I'm getting married in May 2013 too :-) Would have liked it next year but need to save the pennies first ;-p and this gives me longer to get into shape too!!

We've not booked anything yet as we're getting married in Rome and we're planning on going there at the end of this summer to check out their (only 3) civil ceremony venues and some hotels/restaurants we like the look of. We're also not sure if we'll need a wedding planner to help with things like photographer, flowers etc.

I personally wouldn't pick anything out just yet anyway because I tend to change my mind pretty easily and I know in two years I'll go off certain colours, dresses etc and we're having a low key, informal wedding anyway with only about 20 guests but if you want to start booking things then go for it but bear in mind you have plenty of time to research everything really well and you don't need to make any snap decisions with big deposits just yet!

Not really sure how to use these forums so apologise if I do it wrong.

Just got engaged over the weekend! Very excited and cant wait to start planning. My other half wants to get married in 2013, I would rather 2012 but can actually see the logic in having more time to plan everything.

We are thinking April or May but havn't decided on what type of wedding yet. Civil ceremony but not sure whether to have in a manor house style venue or a barn. Love the barn idea but manor houses come with in built accomodation and a few family guests will be coming a distance.

So much to think about!! So many choices...don't know where to begin!

I would say you should decide whether you'd like to have religious or civil ceremony and then start looking at venues. We are getting married in April 2013, and this can be considerably cheaper than May, we have a Friday in April which has saved us thousands and thousands.

So, venue first I'd say!

February 2013 bride here! Too organised according to a lot of people but I don't care in the slightest!!! very excited to hear everyones ideas and seeing more and more 2013 brides has made it feel a lot closer!!

I'm another 2013 bride, getting married on 12th May. Got the venue and registrar booked. If you have a specific date you want, I'd get looking around, I was surprised how many weddings were booked at our venue for 2013. We're booking the big stuff now (venue, photographer etc) then hopefully taking everything else at a nice leisurely pace!

I'm a newbie!!! Got engaged last Monday (so a week now) and already asked my bridesmaids and looking at venues. I'm hoping to be summer 2013, not sure on a particular date yet or even month. I take it the venue will have a list of dates available?! Hoping to go and look at/book a venue in August, hope this isn't too late?! Just so many things to think about but I agree with Emma_Jayne hopefully once the venue is booked can start planning the rest at a leisurely pace!

Thanks guys, its SO nice to hear that there are lots of 2013 brides. Was a bit worried people would get put off by the "unlucky" 13.

Thanks I will start by choosing type of ceremony, What is everyone going for out of curiosity? I've heard from friends you have to jump through hoops to get married in some churches. The only thing that puts me off about civil ceremonies is that you cant have any religious content. I'm not hugely religious more spiritual and would love to at least have a prayer or reading.

Time goes so quickly so planning early is definitly better, couldn't wait anyway I've been waiting ages to get engaged!!

I'm having a civil ceremony in July 2013 in a hotel nearby. You can have readings, just not from the bible. One thing to consider is after the registrar's have left, you can carry on until you go out for the WB/photo's etc, so perhaps have a prayer after they leave?

I am getting married in Church on Easter Weekend 2013 and I am not hugely religious either. It is much easier to get married in church now as you just need to have some link to the church. Such as your local parish, your parents or grandparents local parish (they don't have to attend the church) or the church your parents or grandparents got married in. I am getting married in my parents local church that I used to go to as a little girl and I actually live 100 miles away from it. We are getting married march 2013 too! Easter bank holiday weekend (Sat 30th) at Goosedale near Nottingham! Changed our dates/wedding preferences.. so many times since being engaged in feb 2010, but now we have booked the venue, registrar, choc fountain hehe, hog roast, have meetings in the next 5 weeks with tog/videog & flowers... everything FINALLY seems real!! Im so excited! Only 19 Months to go!! x

It's never too early to plan!! We get married 20th April 2013 and we have our venue and registrar booked and meeting our photographer tomorrow =) xx

I'm hoping to be an October 2013 bride, and my Fiance proposed in Feb this year. Nothing book yet as we're saving for a house so our focus is on that but hopefully the end of this year should have a venue booked. We have one venue in mind, and I did email them with dates we had in mind to see if they had been booked and so far it's free. Saying that though I've got a million magazines, a wedding box with samples and bits and bobs I've seen and have a million ideas floating around my head!

I've been trying on dresses and looking at stationery. In fact I've had a wonderful summer holiday (as a teacher) doing all things weddingy. Now I'm in panic mode as I haven't finished anything like enough work yet (partly due to a fast but firm addiction to Hitched!) and time's now running out. At least I can't say the same about the wedding! I love that I've so much time to research and plan all the details.

And I love that this site is full of people that are excited by all the same things as me.. here's to the next 2 years of fun x
