2014 Brides

MrsB2be_xo, 25 August, 2012 at 14:09 Posted on Planning 0 25

Hi all ?

This is my first post, just wondered if there were many 2014 brides out there and what you have booked/brought so far?

All I have done is looked at 1 venue & brought my table planner & centrepeices... should I get a move on? xo

I'm a 2014 bride Smiley smile, so far nothing booked but we have found a venue we love and will book very soon, found a photographer who does lovely work but she said its to soon to book so is getting back to us in January and i have found a stunning dress but am keeping my options open with that one. I have also found loads of diy invitation and wedding favors that I going to have a go at. You have loads of time left!

Hello and welcome to Hitched! ? There are loads of us 2014 brides now, we also have a date list and FB group (links in my signature!). We're getting married 7th June 2014, and so far have booked the church, reception venue, TOG, VOG, car, DJ, and caracaturist! Also have decided the colour scheme and have made appointments to see a florist and try on dresses at the end of next month.

Looking forward to hearing about your plans ?

    Hi and welcome!

Im getting married 28th March 2014. Got my venue booked and that's it for now. Got a couple of togs in mind & going dress shopping for the first time tomorrow (only because there's a special sale on somewhere near me, otherwise I'd wait a bit longer).

Im mostly gathering ideas for now. I'd like to be able to do as much as possible myself to save a little bit of money.... Like invitations and decorations, so keeping my eyes open for things I see in shops. I figure I've got plenty of time to do everything so might as well enjoy it and be as involved as poss!

    Good luck with your planning!

    Hello Brides to be!

We get married on the 21st June 2014. We got engaged in march 2012 and so far we have booked our venue and registrar.

I have all the supplies for invites and Save the date cards, which I will get to work on now that we have a confirmed date. Yippee!

I also have a wedding dress sorted, but as ive bought it so early- I cant be 100% sure I will still love it in 2 years time so ill keep an open mind about the dress.

and i have my wedding ring- luckily for me my mum has given me her ring Smiley smile love it!!

We are trying to do it on a budget, but its just so expensive ( or maybe we just have expensive taste haha )

    Good luck everyone!! X

Hello! 2014 bride here. So far I've not managed to book anything, it's just been a lot of internet research and discussions with my h2b and anyone who's shown an interest! Want to have booked anything venue related before the end of this year though, preferably next month. Only thing that's been bought is my wedding ring as it was in a set with my engagement ring!

Hello smazzy! Just to say I've sent a request to join the FB group if that's ok!

    Hi,

    Congratulations and welcome.

I'm getting married 24th May 2014. We've got the church and venue booked. A complete guest list and save the dates sent out, having meetings with TOGs this week and next, chosen my dress and veil - shoes next! Smiley smile, picked colour theme, suits, BM dress (I think), got some bits for sweetie trees and favours and I think that's it so far.

You've got lots of time, but we've already had two TOGs we wanted have to turn us down because they're booked already. Also 2 of our best friends can't make it Smiley sad its her brother's wedding on the same day Smiley sad, so it's definitely a good idea to get booking if you want your first choice things.

Thanks everyone for your replies Smiley smile we've found a venue we are in love with but keeping an eye out still because of prices. Has anyone haggled with their venue? Don't know if this is something we can do? lol

Yes definitely haggle - you've got nothing to lose.

I knew my venue was 'the one' as soon as we drove up the drive. OH and I couldn't stop smiling all the way through the viewing to the point that our jaws ached. We only saw one other venue previously which we both said we'd happily marry there but once we saw our venue, that first one was no longer in consideration. You'll know when you've found 'the one'.

Have you got any piccies of your venue to flash?

Our venue freeze the price at this year's cost anyway so it's quite a good offer. However I wanted to haggle and a few people here on Hitched told me it would be difficult to get my venue to reduced the cost because it's quite a popular venue but I thought I'd give it a go. The best I managed was approximately £300 off but that's if I pay in full when I booked it. I worked out that leaving the money in a high interest ISA account would get me roughly £300 in interest over 2 years anyway so didn't bother in the end.

If your venue has quoted you a 2014 price, you could try to get them to freeze the cost at 2012 price. Also consider less popular days and off peak season to reduce cost.

Hello all ? I've bought my dress, started designing my cake, have hired my venue dresser, hired my florist and am currently looking at cars for my bridesmaids. I'm trying to hold off until after Christmas, because then it'll be less than 18 months to go. But I just can't help myself!

Anyone got anything they'd like to flash?

Hi, I am getting married in 2014 too ? I haven't booked or bought anything yet, although I did go trying dresses on last week. I'm surprised to see that so many of you have already booked the registrar though, because I assumed I couldn't yet after reading this on my councils website

"A notice of marriage is valid for twelve months. You may therefore not give notice of marriage to the Superintendent Registrar more than twelve months before the date of your wedding."

Anyway because of this, we decided not to book anything yet till next year when it will be 12 months away, which gives me chance to get the expense of xmas out of the way first anyway. It hasn't stopped me planning though. We have pretty much agreed on colour schemes, food, music, centrepieces etc so just asking around for quotes at the moment and getting as much info as possible before splashing any cash. I think its probably a good idea because I can be a bit indecisive, so if in 6 months time the chosen ideas etc still look good, then I'll allow myself to go ahead and buy / book.

i also thought we had to wait until 12 months before to book ghe registrar tho?

oh and hoping to get my MUA free but need to speak to her. think thats it at the min. oh and we've chosen our invites!

incidentally, does everyone have a theme in mind? we cant really decide!

This is the same for me, I think different county offices have different policies on it. I'll book mine exactly a year to the date I'm getting married.

Hi Louise, I'm May 2014 and We've booked our venue (we did it quite early coz we didn't want to miss out on the date) and brought centrepieces too! No idea why I decided to start with centrepieces but I saw them had had to have them, now I've got to find somewhere to store them for 588 days!!

Next on my list to book is photographer, we're going to use silk flowers so we'll be buying them when we have some extra money and will add them to my pile of centrepieces, my spare room is becoming 'the wedding room'

We're getting married 15th May 2014 - We've booked the venue and the registrar, made my save the date cards which i will send out after xmas and bought my artificial bouquet and moh posy and some wicker baskets for centepieces.

I phoned the registrars in chelmsford essex and they have "pencilled in" our date as such - so that we could book our venue. We have had written confirmation of the date and time of the registrar and just need to give notice in may '13. not paid any money yet. give your office a call just in case others are pencilling in and you're not i'd say!!!! xxx

    ? halloween 2014 bride here ?

Im a bit of a wedding obsessive at the moment, I bought my dress in a closing down sale but I think it's going to be too big by the time the wedding comes around but for £90 it was not to be missed :-)

We cant make our mind up on a venue and are going to look at a few more places next week.

I am becoming a wedding bore hence why I joined the forum so I can stop bugging everyone around me :-)

    Hello I'm a halloween 2014 bride

I have a dress as I bought it in a closing down sale although it is getting to be too big already (whoop whoop) I'm not too concerned as it was a bargain at £90.

We have no venue as we can't decide (why is it sooo difficult). We are on a tight budget so that doesn't help.

We have our colour theme which is red and black and some musicians in mind :-)

I am vast becoming a wedding bore so I joined this site to talk with like minded people instead of boring everyone around me :-)

You are all doing so well!! Feedback i've been getting from brides is some people are skipping 2013 because of superstition so 2014 is booking up quite fast so it's good that you are so organised x

Did you find it helpful? I went to the bluewater one but it wasn't worth it for me as I already had my dress and it seemed that was the most popular stand there.

I went to the Manchester wedding fayre and was a bit disappointed to be honest I thought I'd come away with lots of ideas but I didn't. I was after seeing table ideas and bridesmaid dresses etc. I went to see a particular group though and they were lovely so it was a worthwhile visit all in all :-)

Yeah, I did try on a few wedding rings at the show and although I didn't want to buy any there or by those companies I now know what style looks nice with my engagement ring... So I guess it wasn't a completely wasted journey.

On another note, my bridesmaid dressess arrived today. Yay!! ? Might be a bit early to buy them but I fell in love with this dress when I first saw it. I'm sure everyone says it but it looks so much nicer in real life and is a deeper colour too. Also once my bridesmaids tried them on for size (they come up quite small) it then became hard to get the sizes we needed. They'd sold out online, in loads of branches I called and I had to use a service where they find out which store had them in stock, take them off the shop floor and sent them to you. They ended up coming from Glasgow and I live in London!
