Me too! July 16th, 2016, when we'll have been together exactly 6 and a half years Smiley smile My countdown at the bottom of this page is telling me there are 904 days to go!

Have you got many ideas of what you want yet?

Glad to hear there are a few of us out there who still have a couple of years to go!

We want the 9th July 2016, our 10 year anniversary. Got plenty ideas of what I want already, just think its probably too soon to put them all in action. Im just so excited though!

We are looking at a few venues over the weekend. Once we find one we love and book it we plan on cracking on with things asap so we can spread the cost of things over the years Smiley smile

I have two bookings for 2016 too. I guess planning this far in advance does help to spread the cost and its also cheaper as I charge this years price!

Not 2016 but also got married on our 10 year anniversary! I'm so pleased to see it's not that unusual because all our family and friends commented on 'what took us so long' lol. Congratulations!

Those of you that have booked your venue already, have you taken out wedding insurance? I am looking to book my venue next week but I can't find any isnurance that will cover a wedding more than 2 years away? xx

We're going for John Lewis wedding insurance, it's on our list of things to do, however I haven't actually checked the T&Cs of the policy, oooops. We have only paid deposits now, and I trust/hope that they are secure, worst case scenario, should we have to wait until June before taking out the insurance policy, we'll just do it then - and we're not due to pay anymore in the mean time anyway. Note to self, check JL website out for details!! lol.

    xx

Ah ok, I had a feeling John Lewis was 2 years like a lot of the others but could be wrong!! If you do find out could you let me know? Didn't really want to book without wedding insurance but I'm not waiting until May to book the venue either..decisions decisions ?

We don't have insurance yet. We're pencilled in with the venue but the lady hasn't put us on a deadline to put down a deposit because it's so far in advance. She said that if anybody comes and asks about our date, that's when she'd need us to pay a deposit - or just whenever we can. I'm definitely planning to do that this year for sure, hopefully it will be after July though so that we can get an insurance that's valid for 2 years in advance. That's the plan anyway!

We are getting married on 28 feb 2016

    we have booked venue,

deposit on suits for groom and groomsmen as we got a brilliant deal

    and bought our rings

seems mega organised i know ...its ages away...but saves money if we can get some things out the way at this years

    Prices!

I have looked at insurance, but all i can find is you can take lit 2 years before, so will have to wait....

if anyone finds any willing to take out now, let us know Smiley smile

Where did you go for your groomsmen suits? I have no idea what the average hire cost is, we'll need 5 (groom, best man, usher, FOB, FOG)

We got a good deal from looking around...we found the high street chain (not sure if i am i allowed to say?) gre****ds suit hire......

its local to all the groomsmen, plus if anyone lives further afield..they will have suit sent to their local store

    they had lots of choice,

we can change our mind on cravats/colours/waistcoat styles etc upto nearer the date

the staff were so helpful and friendly they deserve a special mention!!lol

we got a good deal...groom and 6 groomsmen for £500 (includes suit jacket and pants of style choice and colour , cravat/ruche, shirt, cufflinks, waistcoat and insurance for everyone)

that was with groom goes free

20% off too , not sure if they do that now

if u hire 5 suits im sure the current deal is groom goes free.....(most places offer that i think) so worth a try as quite a good saving

I believe prices will increase at end of feb...so we thought its best to get aa deposit down on them now,,,,and keep that price deal..even though 2016 is agggges away!!!

if anyone else has any bargains let us know!!

We have our date of 24/03/16 and we have paid the deposit for the venue and registrar. We are booking our photographer next weekend to ensure we get the special offer he is offering atm! We got engaged in September so it's exciting to finally have a date booked!

I have just been thinking and I'm excited that we actually know the timings for our day, anyone else with me there? I know it's way in advance but I do love to be organised!

1.30pm church's service, approx 1 hour serive, then approx half an hour of photos at the church, then drive to the reception venue.

3.30pm arrive at the reception venue, welcome drinks & photographs until approx 4.30pm.

4.30pm line up/officially greet guests to the wedding breakfast

4.45pm afternoon tea to be served, eat, drink, speeches at about 5:30-6

6.30ish move outside or to the bar whilst the room is moved around

    7-7.30 evening guests arrive

    8-8.30 BBQ to be served.

    Then on...... party!!!

I love organisation, I love plans and schedules (OCD!) so was delighted that despite it being two 1/2 years away, the wedding co-ordinator at our venue was so clued up with how it would work, I mean, I know it's her job & all but EXCITED! xx

We don't have the official timings yet but we have provisionally booked the registrar for 12pm. We wanted it quite early as our date is before the clocks go forward so wanted to have as much light as possible for the photos.

eeeeK It's exciting! where are you getting married? We have booked Wentbridge House in West Yorkshire for ours x

    LOL - I think I know the one! ;-) I will enquire!

This evening H2B and I met with the photographer that had been recommended to us by both a friend and our venue, we went to his home, he showed us lots of his work, his albums, we saw his equipment, he is super friendly, we felt at ease, he's within budget, soooo we think he is the one! xx

I will also be a 2016 bride, however we haven't been able to set a date yet. I'm a teacher and waiting for the local authority to decide on 2015-16 term dates as I would rather marry outside of term time, that would be far too stressful!

The only 'planning' we've done is looking at venues. Done lots of internet research but only seen one in the flesh and we've ruled it out due to the appalling communication of their management staff. Sent an initial email query asking to look at it and heard nothing for 2 months, then had to phone twice more, the second one quite abrupt I'm ashamed to say, to get an appointment to see it. This was partly due to the wedding co-ordinator leaving but other members of management knew of our desire to see it too. After viewing the venue we asked them for a quote and have heard nothing, I asked for the quote over 2 weeks ago.

Luckily we have two appointments tomorrow and feeling very positive about both at the moment. We have been to both already but never for a wedding. However they are expensive so we'll see. I hope their staff are better at communicating, so far so good!

Glad to hear from other 2016 brides and all your plans :-)

In order to narrow down venues I certainly took service, communication etc into account. I think considering the amount we spend on weddings, and the fact that im sure very few people enquire with no intention to marry, then if they want us to spend all these thousands with them they need to impress, I has to be ruthless! Lol. Ok if the venue looks great but if the staff are unhelpful & rude you're not then off to a good start!

    xx

Anyone else feel the need to defend their wedding date? If people ask, I can't just say 4th June '16, I have to say, ahh it's a while away, it's June 2016...blah blah blah, if it was sooner I wouldn't do this but I feel like it's so far away we have to explain, so silly!

We went to service at the church we are marrying in this morning, ahh, it's such a lovely church, inside & out! I'm gonna try to *flash* it! but I'm on the iPad so it might not work...

I do this! Sometimes I'll just say 'oh it's about two and a half years away' even though we've known our date since before OH even proposed! I pretty much never say the full date unless someone specifically asks.

laurafish, looks like we are date twins ? can't book the registry office or registrar until 2 years before, but that's the date we are going for. I'm so excited seeing that there are a lot of 2016 brides out there.
