2016 wedding

Heather1992, 2 January, 2014 at 17:54 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello everyone!

ive been engaged for a year now and am finally booking the church in Sunday. The only think I'm a bit worried about is the only way we are going to be able to do this wedding is if each month we pay for something or a part of it which means I'm going to need to start booking things. The supplies aren't bothered about it being 2016. But I've seen other for mums where there saying it's a bad idea. Is anyone else doing the same thing?

Why is paying for things as you go a bad thing?? I'm planning on getting married in 2015 (not booked yet, looking at venues this weekend) and we can afford to save £1,000 a month so we are going to use that every month to book something/pay for something. You've worried me now, I don't know why that's a bad idea.....most big things don't expect full amount straight away, just a deposit. Like venue, photographer etc, you pay them nearer the time of the wedding. Xx

The only thing that would concern me would be the fact that until you reach the 2 year mark you wont be able to take out wedding insurance cover. All the policies we looked at wouldn't allow us to book until we had 2 years to go. When you do reach that point if you take out insurance, you'll need to make sure it's one that covers you for things you've already booked.

Otherwise, make sure anything you pay for is on a credit card for additional cover/peace of mine.

I'm all for paying stuff off as you go- we've been doing it. We paid off the venue last year for our 2015 wedding and have a standing order for other things. There's no way I could be dealing with having a bill for 20 different things a month before the wedding.

Exactly this. People will only want deposits at first but then you can pay things bit by bit over the months. Saves having a large chunk to pay at the end.

This. I think this is what I will do for my daughter's wedding, I wouldn't want to pay everything all together a month before so paying for things over a few months would be a better option.

M glad I'm not the only one. People we're saying Themes and styles change but I'm not going with the trends I'm just going with what I like and have always liked so won't change my mind. I'll have to have a look for wedding insurance and see what I can do lol

We are also getting married in 2016. We will be booking the registry office in the summer, we can only book it 2 years in advance we will then be looking to but deposits down for venues and all other things. When I was talking to one of my friends about it she said that the best thing she done when she got marries was go and pay a chunk of them every month and it made it easier, but don't worry you are not alone in doing this. ?

I have been planning are wedding (19/03/16) for about 4 or 5 months now. Not planning colours or favours or dresses yet just the big things, So far i have booked the minister, The venue and the entertainment. Will be looking at a photographer soon. Gives us more time to pay it off and if you can afford to buy things every month then thats great.

I love planning i have spreadsheets for everything!

    Have fun x

    Hi

Im getting married this year and we started paying for things in 2012, you sometimes finds it can save you money, although the hotel where we are getting married knew prices would increase, they worked out 2013 prices and charged us that instead of increasing twice, for 2014 prices, also if you have the money for things now I am of the opinion that who knows what might happen tomorrow, we paid for many things as we went along and now due to circumstances of having to move house, if we hadnt done that we wouldnt be having the wedding we are having now Smiley smile

Hope this helps and the plans go well x
