2016 wedding

princesslucyjane, 2 February, 2014 at 19:15 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone here was planning on getting married in 2016?

We got engaged in October 2012 but we can't afford the wedding we want until 2016 (we're in the process of buying a house so our savings are going on that).

We booked the church and reception in January so I actually feel that the ball is rolling now.

If you're a 2016 bride, what else have you managed to book?

x

I am getting married in September 2016, busy saving for the big day now. Have booked the church also and looming at venues at the moment. It is really up to you what to book depending on what spare money you have with buying a house also. Least you have the two main things booked. Well done you. Good luck planning. I am just researching prices for stationery. I am not going to get dress until late 2015\2016. Depends like I say on what spare deposit cash you have. If you need caters for venue i would book now.

We have booked in for March 2016 and we have paid the deposit for the venue and the registrar. We have met some photographers and we have decided who we are going with and are meeting with him to book and pay the deposit next weekend. The next job will be the florist as we are getting married at Easter and we have been advised that some florists won't work with us because they will be too busy so we are going to try and find someone who will pencil us in so we don't have to worry later!

Thanks everyone, you're reassuring me that there are things I can do now. When I tell people when the wedding is, their reaction is still one of shock and 'it's too early to book'.

At least by booking things so early I'll get the pick of the suppliers I want.

The cater will be the next to get booked then.

When are you all planning on buying your dresses?

My fiancé proposed 1st December 2013, so still newly engaged, but we have been together for 9 years and we have a 5 year old daughter!

Our church & reception venue is booked for 4th June 2016, we have entertainment pencilled in & are meeting a photographer who has been recommended later this week.

    Excited! X

I think I will be starting to look for a dress around August this year as it will be around 18 months before I get married. This way I don't have to rush and I can take my time to find what suits me x

I will be looking at dresses the end of 2015 beginning of 2016 as there will be sales after Christmas also. Well this is my thinking. As I do not have anywhere to store it properly and would not want it ruined as my nan's last wishes were to buy my dress so would hate anything to happen to it once bought. And also styles change so my tastes may also. But no harm in trying some on so you get an idea now!! I am going to wedding fairs also to have a nose and get ideas Smiley smile

    We are 2016 too!

Nothing officialy booked yet. We have saved the date with one venue, whislt we look around at others just to make sure. Once we confirm with them and pay the deposit that will be the venue, catering and drinks sorted.

Think we have found the photographer, so we are going on a free engagement shoot with him to try him out before we commit to having him for the big day.

We have already bought table decorations, the mirrored plates were in the sale after Xmas so we got 15 for £6! Too good to miss. Order some table confetti/gems to go with it and then can stand teh ballons we will be having on that.

Everyone who I have spoken to says its a good time frame, giving yourself a few years to get sorted. Alot of suppliers have said they are booked my 2014 and 2015 weekends anyway, unless you want a winter wedding, which we dont.

I think it helps to spread the cost better and gives you time to plan and make things if your doing that.

I plan to start trying dresses about this time next year, leaving me until end of summer 2015 to find 'the one' and then get it ordered in plenty of time :-) I'm looking forward to trying dresses on but want to loose a good bit of weight first! xx I have seen some lovely Ronald Joyce and Mark Lesley dresses, but ive only looked online so far. Xx

I'm a 2016 bride! In the same boat as you with money, lots of saving to do!

So far we have just pencilled in the date with our venue - no deposit needed just yet.

Either this month or next we'll go to speak to the church, as they told me to wait until it was 2014.

I've tried on some dresses and got an idea of what I like, but I'm definitely not taking it seriously just yet.

One of my closest friends is getting married this August, so at the moment the countdown is to that and then once that's over, there will be less than 2 years until our wedding!

It'll soon come around, I'm sure Smiley smile
