2018 Brides! Are there any about yet???

Bektoria, 24 April, 2015 at 20:11 Posted on Planning 0 40

Hey Ladies and Gents!

Is there anyone in the Hitched world who's set a date for 2018 yet?

Three years is too long to wait but makes a lot of sense to us Smiley smile

I've not seen any 2018'ers on hitched as yet, but i'm sure there must be some lurking as i've come across a fair few 2018 brides on various Facebook wedding groups, You wont be alone ?

We started planning our September 2015 wedding in October 2012, so it was 3 years ahead for us too. Boy has it flown by!

Oh my days Sam&Louise!!! That's in a matter of months!!! Are you prepared??

I have a few details that I wont budge on (like Bridesmaid dresses, and I think I'd like to have a go at doing the flowers and cake!)

I'm super excited, as I'm hoping to be able to book it on my 30th birthday (kill 2 birds with one stone), but I've not been to view any venues yet.

I know, it has whizzed by! One minute we were 3 years away, now it's just over 4 months ? You'll blink and 2018 will be here!

I think we're more or less there now planning wise. Just the OH's suit to get really and odd bits and pieces.

It's been great planning early really- less money stress and plenty of time to collect ideas and things here and there which helps spread the cost too.

What a great birthday treat that'd be to be able to book on your birthday. Do you have any ideas on the type of venue you'd like as yet?

I'm trying to keep costs low. Ive already decided on twist wrap long dresses for the BM's (as they can wear it how they like on the day, very versatile)

My main expense is probably going to be the venue. I'm looking into a hotel, for family who live at the other end of the country, and also for the fact that they "usually" include a lot of the supplier bits and bobs.

I'm still undecided as to whether I have the ceremony at the hotel.

I also have a house to sell in this time... Stress overload!!

Yes unofficially. We haven't set a definitive date yet, we want to buy a house first which is hopefully going to happen in the next year and then properly start planning. But I'm drawing up lists of venues, suppliers etc now. Too excited not to plan at all!!

Ahh hello fellow 2018'er!!! I'm super excited too! We are almost opposite with the house situation!

I've listed all the guests, my top 5 venues, top 5 colours! (Maybe jumping the gun slightly).

the hardest part is going to be sticking to a budget! Smiley sad wish I was loaded!!!

    Hello!

I think that is probably when we are aiming for - I'd like to do it sooner ideally, but I'd also like to have everything we would like, supplied by people we want, so for saving reasons it makes sense to wait until then.

I have an idea of most things: colour scheme, church, venue, favours (but only because of a recent cancer diagnosis in my friendship group - I know that would be ridiculously organised otherwise!), I know who I want to be my photographer and who I want to make my cake (both friends). I guess now we have to wait till we have the funds and people start taking bookings for 2018 then we can get started! Eek I'm excited! I'd do it all tomorrow if we could!

We are planning to buy a house in that time too so I feel your pain! Looking forward to seeing your planning come together Smiley smile

Hey there, i am a 2018 bride Smiley smile

other people may think that it's ages away, which yes it is, but it's perfect that you have that time to plan the wedding without getting too stressed while also being able to spread the costs out!

It's surprising how many places are actually already taking bookings for 2018, I have quite a bit booked already.

Good luck with your wedding planning

    Xx

LibbyMay94 this is exactly the same as me!! I'm getting nervous though already that my top venues are going to get booked up before H2B agrees to put a deposit down on somewhere. He thinks it's too early!

I only had 8 months to plan my January 16 wedding and it's really flown by. I bet those 3 years will fly also.

I'm also a 2018 bride!! Yay!!! We literally only set our date yesterday which is pretty exciting.

Are there a lot of venues that will take bookings for 2018? I've read on some pages that they don't really release any prices/packages until 2 years before.

    Should I be worried?

    xx

From what I've found a lot of venues aren't finalizing their 2018 dates until the beginning of 2016. I'm not worrying to much atm as I've been able to get a good idea of the price they are currently asking, one venue I looked at even told me the percentage increase they use so I could work it out. Me and HTB are going to look at venues in Jan and then hopefully have ours booked by the March for a June 2018 wedding Smiley smile Hope that helps a little

    Hi!

I'm a 2018 bride! We got engaged in July 2015 and I have been so excited ever since! We're also saving to buy a house together, which is our number one priority and the reason as wedding is so long away!

I've been a little down hearted lately as I feel like there's no point even looking at wedding things. I've been to wedding fayres and have even started a Pinterest board, which really excites me! I'm honestly like a kid at Christmas, I just wish it was sooner!!

any other 2018 brides feeling the same? xx

    Hi SunnyOrangeDecor458,

I'm in exactly the same position. Me and my partner have gone for a 2018 wedding so that we can buy a house first. We're trying to save for both but the house is our first priority.

All I want to do is look at venues and start planning but it seems whoever I speak to regarding venues not really offer up 2016 and 2017 dates ? So I always feel like it's pointless me approaching them for a 2018 date. You're definitely not alone in the way you're feeling. I'm right there with you, there a little things you could do for now like deciding on colour schemes etc. I've already picked mine ? Xx

I got engaged last month and have decided on a March/June 2018 wedding! We aren't saving for a house, but just want to make sure we have enough money to have everything how we want it!

We went to see a venue last week and she gave us a quote on 2017 prices, so we don't know how much more the price will go up, but we may not be booking the venue anyway.

I have been Pinterest-ing and planning and discussing even though its a while away, I'm so excited I can't stop talking about it!

Well we know where we want to get married now and should have it booked in January for Monday 29th of October 2018. Trying to sort out a list of costs so we know what we are working towards but it's hard! I want to crack on and start buying stuff lol xx

July 2018 right here! Smiley smile

I have a lovely Wiltshire venue chosen however I can't book it yet!! I'm waiting patiently in the wings. It's strange because I'm based in Ireland where everything is available to book years in advance! Wedding mad over here.

We do have our photographer booked however so that's something!

I also work in the entertainment industry and our wedding bands are booking into 2019!!

Suppose it gives us plenty of time to save! ?

I didn't really want to wait until 2018 as it felt so long away (engaged in September) but after careful consideration, tears, moans and stress I have decided it's not so bad to wait a little longer. We looked at Dec 2017 purely on the basis it was cheaper out of season and meant we could have the venue we wanted at a fraction of the price...but for the sake of waiting 5 months I have came round to the idea of 2018 and we are hoping to book our venue after Xmas for 20th May 2018 (we/I chose end of May as our "became official date" is 29th May, so thought it would be nice to choose a month that means something special).

I have everything planned - colour scheme, decor, venue, photographer, bridesmaids have been chosen and asked, style of my dress has been decided, food and drinks picked....literally everything!! Although not sure if it's a good thing as I'm worried that with so long to wait I will end up with no planning to do and lose interest (I don't think it is actually possible as I'm slowly becoming majorly obsessed and wedding talk is taking over my entire life) but hopefully you will get where I'm coming from.

Has anyone else started planning and getting things booked yet?

Congratulations to all of you planning your 2018 weddings! It's such an exciting time. We booked our April 2018 wedding back in January 2015, we booked the church and our reception venue. We didn't think we would be able to book it as early as we did, but also our reception venue said to me and my partner that if we booked they would keep the price at 2015 prices!

A year on and we now have just over 2 years to go and so much booked! We have church, reception venue, transport, photographer, videographer, photo booth, sweeties table/chocolate fountain, decorator and so much more booked. And all of these suppliers have done it at 2015 prices for us. You will be surprised at how early you can book it all.

What does everyone else have left to do? I'm itching to start dress shopping

Congratulations on booking your wedding venue! We are getting married April 2018, and booked our reception venue back in January 2015.

Do you have a colour scheme? That may help you decide on a theme. Pinterest have some fabulous ideas on how to decorate, and to help find ideas for centre pieces etc. Ebay also have some fabulous wedding bits likeinvitations, we have just received our save the dates from a lady on ebay and they are beautiful and just what we wanted for a fraction of the cost.

Good luck with all your planning

We have settled on a date for our wedding. Hopefully 30th June. I've got so much organised already. We're just waiting to get a house sorted and then it's planning full steam ahead. I can't wait to start looking at bridesmaids dresses and wedding dresses. I think that's the bit I'm most excited about. Loving seeing everyone else's plans starting to evolve as well!!

    Hi everyone

Well we went to 3 venues over the weekend and fell in love with the first one... Bartle Hall in Preston Lancashire. It is stunning and the staff are really welcoming and lovely.

I still have a few venues to view but to be honest I think we have found the one.

    I will be a 2018 bride!

We got engaged on the 21st November 2015.

We're getting married on the 21st April. We've got the church booked, the venue booked, the photographer and the evening entertainment, I can't wait.

I have an idea of who I want to do the cake, transport and flowers and have the ideas for invitations and table decorations. I like to be very organised and get the people and things that I want rather than having to find other people because they are already booked for the date and it means I can plan for the budget.

I can't wait to go dress shopping! One of the bridal shops at a wedding fair I went to said they already have brides who have picked their dresses and are on a payment plan so it makes it easier for them which I think is a really good idea.

I have loved reading the forum for tips and ideas.

Hello! 20 June 2018 for us, venue booked. We were planning on eloping this year so I actually have my dress on order, but then it dawned on us we wanted our kids involved and family there. So 2018 to give us plenty of time to plan and save, also 20 June will be 10 years from our very first kiss Smiley smile feels nice not to be too rushed and have choice of suppliers rather than pick of who is available. Excited to share our plans on here, I thought I'd be the only 2018 bride x
