I've tried on dresses too, got another appt in 3 weeks, then will have another one probs a month after that. Sooooo exciting!!!

How do you spread things out without over doing it and scaring fiance off lol???

We have set the date for the 5th May 2018 Smiley smile

We have got the church and venue/marquee hire booked at the moment, and i have contacted a photographer that i like and we are hoping to meet up soon with them Smiley smile

My partner said he thought everything (my planning ) would die down for a few months once we had the venue and church booked ... therefore is currently not too happy with me wanting to plan all the time, so is taking a 'break' !

Thanks very much for adding my date Smiley smile

I've been really organised and booked everything that needs to be booked, I'm very organised and like everything to be sorted and the good suppliers, photographers etc get booked up quickly so I wanted to make sure I had pick of who we wanted, plus we have got everything at 2016 prices not 2018 which is a major bonus!! plus we now how much things are and can save the money and spread the costs. I have already chosen my dress, I'm going back in October to have my measurements taken, I went looking because I had no idea what style I would like and thought I would hate everything on me and it would take months of trying on dresses to find something that I liked on me, surprisingly to me everything looked nice and I went for a style that I loved on other people but thought would look horrible on me! I only went to two shops, I loved a dress in the first shop and didn't think I would find anything else that topped it but I found one in the second shop that was just stunning and new it was my dress and said yes there and then, luckily I went when I did as a week later they had sold the dress from the shop floor, even though it was new in as somebody wanted it so I think it was all meant to be! It's all so exciting!

I have been trying to spread out dress shopping so I waited another month before going looking yesterday. Trouble is, I have found 'The One'. It is absolutely gorgeous, me and mum fell in love with it!!!

I know it is far too early to buy a dress which made me dither for about three hours before we went back and put a deposit down on it!! They don't order them in until 50% is paid so I will aim to wait 2 or 3 months before paying a bit more off, and they store them until 3 weeks before the wedding and do the alterations in store. My initial thinking was to find a dress I liked then wait a few months to see if it came on sale anywhere. The argument against this was that prices do go up and it might never come on sale then sell through and me not be able to get it at all!

When we started processing payments, the lovely shop assistant said the price had just gone up but we were going to get it at the listed price that day so I am quite pleased! It is a lot higher than my original budget too but I love it!

This was the third shop in about 10 weeks (two appointments were booked very quickly when we were thinking about a 2017 wedding ?) and I have tried on a few so I think I am being certain. There were other dresses I liked too in other designers that I have seen on the internet but when I brought some of them up in the coffee shop they didn't seem to really match up to this one so I am hiping this is the right decision.

Waffling over.......sorry I'm good at waffling.

Basically, I would recommend listening to the helpful assistants in the dress shops, I never would of picked this one out as it has a higher neckline than I would of gone for, and she kept pulling out a lot of dresses which was a bit distracting when we were trying to look, but now I see why, she has earned a million brownie points very impressed!!!

I'm getting married in 2018 and I started dress shopping in March this year, the bridal shops told me that it's never too early to start shopping for dresses and that they had some brides who picked their dresses in 2014 for there weddings in 2018!

I went to a local shop to get an idea of styles that I liked, I thought I wouldn't like anything and it would take me months to find the 'one', surprisingly though all the styles looked nice and I could of picked anyone of the styles but I ended up loving the complete opposite of what I thought I would like, as most people say they do.

I went to a second shop 3 weeks later and found a dress that I absolutely loved, so I decided to put a deposit down on the dress and go back in October for my measurements and to order the dress, the assistant said that the dress was new in so I could come and try the dress again but a week and a half later I asked if I could come back and try it on and they said that the dress was no longer in the store, I did find myself having some doubts, I think because I didn't have any pictures of me in it and I couldn't remember what I looked like.

Forward 3 months and the same shop have another store with different designers and I saw a dress on their website that I was really drawn to, it was the complete opposite of the original, the original was a princess style and this was a fishtail so I decided to make an appointment to try that dress and 3 others that I had seen, they were all slightly different styles and one was a similar style to the original.

The dress that I actually went there to try I really didn't like but one of the other dresses that I tried, really looked amazing and in that moment we all thought that was the one, it was a fishtail, that's the style I thought I would of picked at the very beginning. The assistant said that she had one that was very similar to the one that I had originally chosen as I had shown her a picture and as soon as I put that on I fell in love, it was still a princess dress but was more fitted in the bodice where as the original one had a shorter bodice and came out from under my boobs and I think that was the reason that I was having doubts about the original one as it hide my waist and when I tried the fishtail, my mum and the assistant said I shouldn't be hiding my figure under a princess dress so this was a compromise as it still gave me a waist but was still a princess dress and when I put the fishtail back on it just didn't look anything compared, which was such an odd thing as we'd been so sure on that one only 10 minutes before, I put the 'one' back on and new that it was the dress that I had to have, so I chose a veil and decided to have my measurements done and order the dress there and then, we did it so that it won't be in until October next year rather than coming in too early.

We did have a funny moment there when one of the zips got stuck on something on one of the dresses and had to cut the zip to get me out of the dress and I think I got over whelmed at one point and nearly passed out and had to sit down!!

The assistant was super and if she hadn't of thought of that dress I would of gone with something completely different, although the other dress looked amazing at that point it just didn't look as amazing once I had tried the last dress on, I think it defiantly makes a difference with an assistant who is good at her job and to try as many different ones as you can and not dismiss them on the hanger as this dress looked nothing on the hanger and I probably would of dismissed it as it was in gold and I wanted ivory but I have actually ordered it in the gold as I love the colour and it just didn't look the same in ivory.

I ended up with a dress that was the complete opposite of what style I thought I would have, a different colour and different neckline as I thought I would want straps but instead I loved strapless. You never know until you try them on and I don't think it's ever too early to start looking and buying a dress because once that was done I felt relaxed and could plan the other parts of the wedding to match things with the dress!

I definitely think it was fate for me to decide to go and try another dress on and now I can happily say I had that moment and have found the 'one' and it's so exciting!!

Hi everyone. I'm getting married July 2018. We have got quiet a bit booked. We have venue, photographer, videographer, cake, flowers, cars, led Dancefloor & giant love letters, piper & photobooth, my shoes, table centrepieces, dj & singer, save the dates, invites and some decoration bits & pieces. Going to book kilts after Xmas as there is only 1 shop in Glasgow that does the tartan we want and will start looking for my dress about July time next year. Xx

I would love to send my invites out now, but it is definitely too early.

I think mine will go out with a years notice, and then the invites maybe 2 or 3 months notice. I think providing you tell people when the wedding is, they wouldn't book their holiday then.

    Hello All

    I am planning a wedding for May/June 2018.

We have not confirmed anything yet.

I do however know what venue my heart is set on and have contacted my favourite photographer who has space around my date ideas.

It's going to be great to see how everyone else's planning is going and should kick me up the butt on what I haven't done.

    Amy
