Awhh how exciting!! This time next year we will only have a week to go! Its absolutely flying by.

Planning seems to be going well so far, we've got quite a lot of the big stuff sorted out. We have hit a bit of a lull with it all at the moment but the next major things to sort out is the honeymoon, the guys suits & the Bridesmaids dresses.

Your honeymoon sounds absolutely lovely! Italy is amazing Smiley smile xx

The time is flying by! This time last year we went to a wedding fair at the venue and it seems like that was only yesterday!

We've not had alot to do either as everything was organised last year, my h2b did chose his suits a couple of weeks ago and paid the deposit, we weren't going to sort them until October time but he ordered a suit to try on at the shop as her couldn't decide if he wanted blue or grey and they said that if we booked with them in the next couple of weeks they could still do them at last years prices as they hadn't had the new price list through so we paid the deposit and they will go and get measured in January, we were the second couple to do it that morning, every bit of money saved helps!

We would like to go to America and go to New York and Florida but we knew that we wouldn't be able to afford it straight after the wedding so we'll probably do that the following year, Italy was our original choice before we thought about America so this way we will hopefully get to do both! We're doing 4 nights in Florence and then 2 nights in Venice, it's such a stunning place I can't wait Smiley smile

I look forward to hearing more about your plans as they progress Smiley smile xx

    I'm having a panic

I thought I was Miles ahead but I keep seeing people getting married after us or around our date who are much further ahead. I started looking at lighting today as our venue is a barn and a light canopy works really well but then I saw outdoor lighting and dance floor hire. Things I haven't even considered. Everything also seems twice or more what we've budgeted to spend as well so now I'm freaking out.

    Don't panic!

You still have lots of time so you'll be fine, everyone's plans come together differently so don't worry about how far ahead other people are with their plans.

With all the things that you can get these days for weddings its so easy to get carried away and the minute you say wedding the price seems to double! Every time we went to a wedding fair we saw more things that we loved but we knew we had to stick to a budget, so we just looked at all the things we had seen and then decided which were most important to us over things that we didn't really need.

Alot of the time we found that we could get some good deals at the wedding fairs as they always had discounts and offers on so that may be a way to save some money!

Don't freak out because you have plenty of time and everything will come together in the end Smiley smile

Updated the spreadsheet this week ? it's slightly over budget but then I relised we've already paid quite a bit anyway so should be just about ok lol! Still feel far behind with the planning but still well over a year to go Smiley smile I'm done with going to wedding fairs tho, find it easier looking for suppliers myself and from recommendations. Nice to see how far everyone's coming along with their planning Smiley smile

I think everyone goes a bit over budget in the end but at least your keeping on top of it and have paid quite abit already!

I'm the same with wedding fairs, we have organised everything now so there's no point going to anymore, I have found that every wedding fair that we have gone to we have found something that we wanted and had discount from most of the suppliers by seeing them at a wedding fair so it has been worthwhile for the ones that we have been to.

You still have so much time to plan so I wouldn't worry about feeling that you far behind Smiley smile

Isn't it going so fast! So sad to think this time next year it will be over - but we should hopefully be on our honeymoon! We are looking to make some appointments with travel agents to make some enquiries in the next few weeks as I am really keen to get something booked for that. Your's truly does sound fab & having a trip to America the year after will give you a massive thing to look forward to if the wedding blues hit!

We went back to our venue as they had an open day on Sunday - it makes me so happy as I love it so much! I get so excited going there.

That sounds fab about your suits! My OH needs to get a wiggle on with starting to think about his, but he is very laid back at the best of times! I might use your tale of getting this years prices as a nudge in that direction!xx

I know, it is sad to think that this time next year it will be all over! I don't know what I will do to occupy my time!

That will be fun to start looking at your honeymoon, do you know where you would like to go yet?

It's so nice going to visit the venue isn't it! I love going to ours and we're having our engagement shoot in the grounds in August so can't wait for that!

My OH is normally really laid back and I didn't think he'd do it till the last minute but I think because he wasn't sure which colour he wanted it made him look into it sooner which paid off for us!

I look forward to hearing about your honeymoon plans when you have them sorted Smiley smile xx

No me neither! I am hoping that another of my friends will get engaged so that the Wedding fun will continue after ours haha! Fingers crossed.

We were hoping to be able to go to somewhere like the Maldives, but we have heard that apparently May isn't the ideal time to go weather wise, nor do I think it would be something that we would actually be able to afford! So I think we might look more towards the Caribbean/Central America. We are going to make an appointment with Kuoni but I think they might be a bit out of our price range, so will probably go have a chat with Thomson/First Choice too as they have some beautiful looking places online!

Are you planning on changing your name before you travel? I have been looking into that this week as it is something I would quite like to do - I love the idea of travelling with my married name. But wondering whether it is worth potentially added stress prior to the Wedding? I am very undecided.

Ooooh that sounds so lovely! Such a good idea. I would have liked an engagement shoot purely so that I could get used to being in front of a camera, but OH was not keen on that idea at all so it is a no go Smiley sad xx

That's a shame that you can't go to the Maldives but i'm sure whatever else you chose will be perfect!

Do you have a trailfinders near you? As you can make an appointment to see them and go through lots of options with them, whenever I have spoken to them they have been really helpful so that might be somewhere else to try if you have one local to you, I saw lots of recommendations on here for them.

I had thought about changing my name before we travel but in the end I decided to just sort it after as I want to book the flights soon and when I looked into the details i'd have to get the vicar to sign the paperwork and I am worried that I won't get it sorted in time and then the flights details would be in a different name to my passport so just decided to stick with my name and change it after but it would of been nice to of changed it for the honeymoon!

Our engagement shoot came as part of the package that we booked with our photographer which is a bonus! It will be nice to be in front of the camera before the day as i'm not good at having my photo taken and it will also allow our photographer to see our venue before the day! It also allows us to have some photos in the gardens incase it is raining on the wedding day and we can't have as many photos outside as we would of liked! xx

We've just booked Upwaltham Barns in Sussex for 22nd July 2018! Not done much else planning wise but I've just today bought bridesmaids dresses as they were in the sale! Hope the girls like them now.

Happy planning to all fellow 2018 brides and grooms! Xxx

My Mum has mentioned Trailfinders before & you've just reminded me. I've looked it up & there are a few near where I work in London so I think I might have to make us an appointment to go! Definitely worth speaking to them Smiley smile

Yeah that is what worries me about changing my name before hand, it says that you have to get the registrar who is going to perform the service to sign the form... We are giving notice in just over a week so I think I will speak to them when we go & see what they say about how easy it is to get that done?!

Oooh see that is such a good idea doing it at your venue!! I really wish we had gone for one. I might try to convince the OH Smiley smile xx

I'm sure the they'll be able to help you with it and it will be easy for you to change your name before you go, I won't be meeting with the vicar again until early next year so i'm worried I wouldn't get it sorted!

Yeah definitely worth making an appointment with them as well as the others to get some ideas!

I don't think my OH would of done one if it hadn't been included but i'm glad that we're having it and he seems to looking forward to it probably more than I am because I know how bad I am infront of the camera!! When our photographer suggested to have it at the venue I thought what a good idea as I wouldn't of known where to go!

Hopefully you can convince him to have one Smiley smile xx

    Hi There!

We got engaged almost 2 weeks ago. Because of some bits and bobs we haven't got a date yet. But we're planning on signing the register this year and then do our celebrations in Summer 2018~ So I reckon I can still be a 2018 bride? Smiley xd

We are going to give our notice next Monday and see how long it may take us to get a registrar... Registrars in York sounds rare...

That's why we know nothing solid yet... Just that I started doing the invitation cards to my BMs and wedding planner (she's a friend of mine too).

    Excited to join the crew!

How many 2018 brides have found their dress yet?

I found mine today. I wasn't expecting it but a local shop had a sale so I thought I'd go down and get some inspiration. Ended up finding my dream dress. I feel a bit silly as I have over a year until the day but I'm excited that I haven't got to stress about it now.

    Hey all,

I'm a fellow 2018 bride! All booked for 15th April 2018 at Hedsor House. So far have the photographer, the dress, and the band booked. H2B and I live overseas in Asia for work so it's been a real challenge trying to sort stuff, but we're getting there slowly!

I found my dream dress yesterday (£200 over budget! But so worth it?) and my wedding is the 19th April.

You're right it is one less thing to worry about!

We're all booked for 27 May 2018! Super excited but also really apprehensive as there's so much planning to do and I'm not so good with delegating to people!

Not even looking for a dress yet as I want to lose some weight. I know some people like to pick the dress first and use that as their motivation but I don't want to be looking at dresses for it then to look completely different on me when (not if) I drop a size or two.

Any DIY brides on here? I'm hoping to do most of the decor etc myself. Unfortunately pinterest is actually proving to be my worst enemy as it's given me too many ideas and I can't choose! ?

Hi all I'm getting married 20th October 2018 at St Wilfrids Church in grappenhall, then off to The Olde Barn for evening party. Venue is doing food and decoration but I am making my own centrepieces. Going to try wedding dresses on the 4th August and I am super nervous ?
